The purpose of this study was to review 36 research to look into the research trends on comorbidity of mathematics disabilities and reading disabilities. The collected studies were classified and analyzed by research types and topics including characteristics, etiology, prevalence and intervention. Most research types were concentrated on survey. The results of analysis by topics are as follow. First, students with MDRD showed low phonological awareness and defect in working memory, deficiency in mathematical fact retrieval and calculation fluency. Especially when faced to solve math word problems, students with comorbidity learning problem shows significantly lower math skills than students with MD. Second, little research has been done for examining the etiology such as genetic and environmental factors for comorbidity of RD and MD. Third, the prevalence studies have been different consequences according to various operational definitions of LD and cut-off scores in each research. Lastly, comorbidity of RD and MD has distinctive characteristics and requires different intervention approaches. Nevertheless, studies which employed intervention was scarce. Based on these results, we suggest the importance of identifying students with MDRD and the necessity of conducting a variety of research.
