Language-relevant contents such as movies, dramas, poems, and novels which have the greatest influence on Hallyu are translated in accordance with each county`s language and accommodated. Translation is a difficult work because you need to comprehend every thing such as culture, history, life, politic, etc of the country where the original work was published. Lee Hyo-seok`s ‘When Buckwheat Flowers Blossom` is consistently included in textbooks and taught to students because of its description of picturesque background and great literary historical value. However, we are so indifferent to whether this short story is translated properly and how it is accommodated by foreign readers. In this article, I found out that the words used by translators can change characters` personalities and overall atmosphere of the work drastically.
