본 연구의 목적은 청각장애아동의 사교육비 지출 실태를 분석하여 개선방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 전국의 청각장애학교 중에서 설문조사를 승낙한 8개교 학부모 111명을 대상으로 설문조사하였다. 교차분석을 통하여 부모의 변인에 따라 자료를 정리하였다. 본 연구의 결과 첫째, 청각장애아동의 사교육비 지출은 학습 또는 장애 개선을 위하여 과외나 학원 및 사설 치료 교육 기관을 이용하고 있다. 둘째, 청각장애아동의 학부모들은 자녀의 학습 및 치료교육을 위한 사교육비 지출에 가계의 부담을 느끼고있으며, 저소득층일수록 경제적 부담이 심각함을 알 수 있다. 셋째, 청각장애아동의 학부모들은 사교육비 절감 방안으로 학교 내 치료교사의 증원 배치와 학교 방과후 교육프로그램의 다양화를 가장 원하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 청각장애아동의 사교육비 지원을 위한 국가적 수준의 지원과 함께 청각장애학교 차원에서의 교육과정 운영을 통한 방과후 지원방안이 제시되어야 함을 또한 강조하였다.

The purpose of this study was to illustrate the private expense for education of hearing impaired children. One hundred and eleven parents of the hearing impaired children who are attending at the level of elementary from eight schools for the deaf were participated for this study. Chi-square was utilized to analyse the results of the data. The results of this study were that : (a) hearing impaired children participated private educational institutes such as academic and/or remedial centers and the parents of the hearing impaired children spent their money based on the parents`` economic status; (b) the parents of the hearing impaired children felt difficulties to support their children``s private educational expense; and (c) public educational systems to support the hearing children in and/or after schools had to prepare to prevent the parents`` private educational expense in the national level for the special education. Therefore this study concluded that the private expense for education of hearing impaired children is a serious educational and social problem to solve as soon as possible. Most parents of the hearing impaired children indicated a desire that various programs in the dimensions of schools for the hearing impaired will be developed based on school curriculums.
