최근 지원/임파워먼트 패러다임을 기반으로 하는 재활서비스의 주요 내용에는 편의증진과 재활공학의 제공이 포함된다. 특히 장애인의 취업과 고용유지 측면에서 기존의 생산성과 편견의 논란 이전에 구축되어야 하는 합당한 고용환경에 대한 인식이 높아지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 미국과 우리나라에서 장애인을 고려한 직업 편의증진(jobaccommodation)과 재활공학 관련 법제도, 지원체계, 서비스 과정을 분석하여 향후 우리나라에서 장애인의 고용을 위한 직업적 편의증진과 재활공학의 개선방안 방안을 도출하였다.

Recent rehabilitation service based on support and empowerment paradigm includes accommodation and rehabilitation technology for individuals with disabilities as an essential component. Especially, reasonable accommodation is emphasized as the first condition to enhance employment and job stability of individuals with disabilities before the argument of productivity vs. prejudice of employers of workers with disabilities. The study investigated laws and regulations and service status related to job accommodation and rehabilitation technology in Korea and the United states. As a result, improvements of regulations and service system are suggested to provide workers with disabilities with job accommodation and rehabilitation technology for enhancing employment.
