본 연구에서는 특수대 스카우트 담당 특수교사의 경험과 인식 중심으로 질적 연구방법을 통하여 특수학교에서 청소년단체 활동의 활성화 방안에 대해서 제시하려고 한다. 이를 위해 연구자가 직접 특수대 스카우트 활동을 참여관찰 하였고, 특수대 스카우트담당 특수교사 8명을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 다양한 현장체험 제공, 사회 적응력 향상, 또래 상호작용을 통한 친밀감 증대, 재활의지 및 자립심 신장등이 특수대 스카우트 활동이 주는 효과로 나타났고, 교육현장의 장애시설 부족, 인식개선 및 재정지원 미흡, 담당 특수교사의 과중한 업무, 스카우트 대원에게 적합한 프로그램 부족, 중증 스카우트 대원들의 활동 계획 수립 및 지도시의 어려움 등이 문제점으로 지적되었다. 이러한 분석결과를 통하여 특수학교에서 청소년단체 활동의 활성화 방안에 대한 결론을 제시하였다.

This study intends to present plans to activate for youth group activities in a special school through a qualitative study, focusing on the experience and recognition of teachers in charge of Scout activities of the Special Scout Unit in a special school. For this study, the person to this research took part in Scout activities in person for observation as well as conducted a depth interview with eight special education teachers who have directly participated in Scout activities in a special school. In consequence of this study, it showed that Scout activities of the Special Scout Unit in a special school provided the students with a handicap with the effects; an offer of various field experience, the improvement in social adaptation, the enlargement of intimacy through interaction among students of the age, and the expansion of rehabilitation will and independence. On the other hand, it appeared that they had difficult problems; insufficient facilities for challenged students in the education field, lack of the improvement of recognition regarding the handicapped, insufficient financial support, excessive affairs given to teachers, short programs appropriate to challenged students, and difficulties in establishing an active plan for Scout members with a severe handicap or in while teaching them. On the basis of the above analyzed results this study presents the conclusion on plans to activate youth group activities in a special school.
