본 연구에서는 발달장애아동 가족의 교육 및 보육에 대한 수요와 욕구를 알아보기 위해 특수교육 및 치료 서비스 이용도, 시설 선택 기준과 희망 시설 유형, 교육 및 보육 지원 제도 및 정책에 대한 인식과 평가, 시설 선택에 영향을 미치는 요인 등을 규명하였다. 자료는 서울, 부산, 대구, 인천, 광주, 대전, 울산 등의 6대 도시와 경기, 강원, 경북, 경남, 전남, 전북, 제주 등의 전역에 걸쳐 거주하고 946 발달장애아동 가족을 중심으로 설문조사를 통해 수집하였으며, 자료 분석을 위해 교차분석, t-test, 로짓분석 (logit analysis) 등을 적용하였다. 분석결과, 아동을 통합시설에 보내는 가족보다 전담시설에 보내는 가족이 모든 교육 서비스 영역에서 욕구가 더 높게 나타났으며 집단 간욕구 구조도 달랐다. 아동을 전담시설에 보내는 가족은 음악치료에 대한 욕구가 높은데 비해 통합시설에 보내는 가족은 놀이치료에 대한 욕구가 더 높았고 집단 내 분산도 큰것으로 파악되었다. 교육 및 보육시설을 선택할 때 교육 환경을 반영하는 요인들 중 반배치 기준과 아동 대 교사 비율이 중요하다고 인식하는 가족일수록 전담시설보다 통합시설을 더 선호하고 있다. 그리고 특수치료 및 치료교육 욕구가 높은 가족은 통합시설보다 전담시설을 더 선호하는 것으로 파악되었다. 결론에 분석결과를 토대로 발달장애 아동과 그 가족의 교육 및 보육 욕구를 충족하기 위한 정책적 제언을 제시하였다.

The purpose of this study was to investigates the need of specialized daycare as well as education for the families with developmental disability children, taking the use degree of special education and therapy, criteria of selecting center, and the determinants of choosing specialized center into account. The survey questionnaires were distributed to nationwide metropolitan cities, and data were collected from 946 families with developmental disability children. Applying chi-square, t-test, and logit analysis, this study found that the degree of educational need of the families using exclusive specialized center was higher than the families using unified specialized center. For the families with developmental disability children using unified specialized center, the need of music therapy was higher but for the families using exclusive specialized center, the need of play therapy was higher than their counterparts. Based on the findings of this study, policy implications for the welfare of the families with disability children and specialized daycare and education centers in the community are discussed.
