러시아의 교육학자인 Vygotsky는 아동의 교수학습에 있어서 개념지도는 사고와 언어를 위한 도구로 활용된다는 점에서 중요성을 강조하였다. 이 연구에서 활용한 서적은 인터넷 웹사이트인 http://www.amazon.com에서 Vygotsky로 검색어를 입력하여 수집한 16권의 책이었다. 이 연구에서는 장애아동을 위한 발달적 차원에서 고려해야 하는 개념지도에 대한 Vygotsky의 이론적 배경을 제시하였다. 역사적 개념, 개념발달, 교수학습에서의 과학적 개념의 중요성, 그리고 장애아동의 개념지도를 위한 교수학습 방법등을 세부적으로 제시하였다. Vygotsky의 시각과 공헌에 기초한 장애아동의 개념발달은 여러 교과목의 교수학습에서 적용되고 있음을 또한 이 연구에서는 제시하였다.

Vygotsky who is a Russian educator for general and special education emphasized that concept development is the most important tool to teach for children with disabilities in the study on language and thought. At internet site http://www.amazon.com, the sixteen books which were searched with the key word, Vygotsky, were major references for this study. The purpose of this study was to describe Vygotsky’s view on concept development for teaching children with disabilities. Vygotsky’s theoretical background on concept development which are the historical concept, concept development, and scientific concept for teaching and learning, and teaching methods for children with disabilities are described. This study suggested that Vygotsky’s view and contribution are an essential knowledge for educators to teach children with disabilities.
