본 연구는 청각장애유아와 그들의 어머니간의 책읽기 과정에서 상호작용이 어떤 유형으로 나타나는지 알아보고자 하였으며, 청각장애유아의 초기문해기술 수준에 따라 이러한 책읽기 상호작용이 어떤 특성을 보이는지 알아보았다. 연구대상은 청각장애유아와 그들의 건청어머니 14쌍이었으며, 대상유아의 초기문해기술 수준에 따라 상위집단 7쌍과 하위집단 7쌍으로 구성하였다. 대상유아의 평균생활연령은 54.21개월이었고, 인공와우이식 유아로 주 의사소통 양식은 구화였다. 상호작용 유형을 분석하기 위해 청각장애유아와 그들의 어머니가 함께 동화책을 읽는 과제를 실시하였으며, 책읽기 과제 수행중의 모든 과정을 녹화하여 전사하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 전반적으로 청각장애유아-건청어머니간의 책읽기 상호작용 유형 중에서 지시자 유형의 점수가 가장높았고, 그다음은 촉진자 유형, 관찰자 유형 순이었다. 둘째, 상위집단은 촉진자 유형의개시 점수가 가장 높았으며, 그다음이 지시자 유형, 관찰자 유형 순이었다. 하위집단은지시자 유형의 개시 점수가 두드러지게 높았으며, 촉진자 유형은 중간 수준이었고, 관찰자 유형의 점수가 가장 낮았다. 그러나 상하 두 집단 모두 지시자 유형의 피드백 점수가 두드러지게 높았으며, 그다음이 촉진자 유형이었고, 관찰자 유형의 패드백 점수가 가장 취약하였다.

This study investigated types of interaction during storybook reading between hearing-impaired children and their mothers. The subjects were 14 children with cochlear implant and used oral speech. Their average chronological age was 54.21months. One child and its mother made up a pair. To analyze types of the book-reading interaction, each pair did joint book reading task. We recorded on video tape and transcribed the process of reading during doing the tasks. The results were as followings: Firstly, totally subjects mothers used more directive type than the other types in reading interaction. Secondly, it was found, when mothers whose children were with a high level on early literacy tasks initiated interaction, that facilitator type was scored the best and directive type was better than observer type. As mothers initiated interaction in a low level group, directive type was most frequently, then were followed by facilitator and observer type. Regardless of child``s level of literacy skills, mothers showed more directive type than the other types in giving feedback to their children.
