본 연구에서는 발달장애아동 가족이 인지한 사회적 지지가 부모의 양육부담과 대처행동, 그리고 이들 가족의 삶의 질에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 규명하고자 하였다. 분석결과 발달장애아동 가족의 양육부담은 사회적 지지와 유의한 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 일반적으로 발달장애아동 가족의 양육부담을 줄이기 위해 경제적 지원이 우선되어야 한다고 생각할 수 있으나 양육부담에 미치는 순수한 영향력을 분석한 결과 경제적 요인보다 사회적 지지와 같은 정서적, 심리적 변수가 더 크게 작용하는 것으로 나타났다. 삶의 질 결정요인 분석에서는 사회적 지지, 대처행동 등이 영향을 미치는 변수인것으로 나타났다. 이들 변수들의 상대적 기여도는 사회적 지지가 가장 큰 것으로 파악되었다. 심리적·정서적 측면을 포함한 사회적 지지는 양육부담을 효율적으로 대처하며 삶의 균형을 회복할 수 있게 한다는 측면에서 매우 중요하다. 발달장애아동 가족이 인지한 사회적 지지가 양육부담 및 대처행동과 삶의 질을 향상시키는데 중요한 영향을 미친다는 본 연구의 결과는 우리 사회에 시사하는 바가 크며, 우리 사회는 이들 가족을 향한 공동체적 인식변화와 관심을 가져야 한다.

The purpose is to find the effect of socio-demographic factors on the parental stress of rearing children with developmental disabilities, coping behavior, and perceived social support which help to clarify the differences among families with developmental disability children. Data were collected from 221 families of children with developmental disabilities. The findings showed that the perceived social support has large and statistically highly significant effects on the parental stress and family coping behavior. Also, the quality of life of the family were regressed and found that the perceived social support were the most important factor. Noting that the perceived social support of the families is likely to affect positively on the quality of life of the families, the policy formulations should pay special attention to the families with disabled children. In addition, programs that can provide social support and assist the families to cope with their adverse life conditions and psychological stress should be developed. These intangible supports will provide important psychological benefits to families to educate the disabled children in reaching their fullest potential.
