The quality of life has become a major interest in modem society. The study on the quality of life is dealt with in many study areas, but there are few studies dealing with showing the complex and comprehensive concept of the quality of life. Especially, there is a great lack of researches about the quality of life for the people with disabilities. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to scrutinize the concept of quality of life and to examine how the study on the quality of life for the people with disabilities has been conducted. Furthermore, this research intends to suggest the study direction of the quality of life for the people with disabilities. In order to clearly understand the concept of quality of life, several definitions about the quality of life were studied. As a result, The perspective of the quality of life was divided into objective, subjective, and both objective and subjective views. Also the study on the quality of life was .dealt with in various study areas. Based on such studies, the content of the researches are divided into 4 groups : Components of the quality of life for the people with disabilities, evaluation of the quality of life for the people with disabilities, relationship between influencing factors and the quality of life for the people with disabilities, application of programs to enhance the quality of life for the people with disabilities. As a result of these studies, the study direction is as following. There should be developed Korean Quality of Life Scale for the people with disabilities which could concurrently measure the objective side and subjective side of the quality of life. Also, there should be developed programs and policies whi.ch could improve there various conditions that influence the quality of life.
