Owing to the rapid aging population, there is an increase in disorders among the elderly. Among them, there are a large number of communication disorders, accompanying with such disorders as senile dementia, apoplex, and laryngectomee. These diseases are not going to end up completing the recovery with medical treatment in the first place, but it is necessary to have linguistic rehabilitation so that the patients can deal with communication difficulties, which is an essential right to live. According to this research, the more aged they are, the less performative the communication skills of the elderly patients are. Especially, among disorders in the elderly, it was found that the elderly with apoplex lack practical communication skills, as in moving and greeting, and that the elderly with senile dementia showed comparatively better results in their practical communication skills than with apoplex. From the results of this research, it is shown that linguistic skill rehabilitation to improve communication in elderly patients is an essential factor to improving their quality of life. Accordingly, in order to improve the living quality for the elderly, who have diseases and disorders, a wide range of development in linguistic skill rehabilitation programs is required, and it is found that accurate and various programs to that effect are necessary to be developed in order to apply the developed programs to pertinent cases regarding types and status of disorders in the elderly.
