The aged with apoplexy and dementia cannot spend daily living independently because of physical aging and accompanying diseases and need the relations with others for protection. In particular if they have dementia, their ability to memory will be remarkably reduced and they are characterized by communicative disorder. Thus the aged with apoplexy and dementia need language rehabilitation training rather than finishing their treatment in primary medical treatment. Accordingly this study conducted CADLT(Communicative Ability in Daily Living Test) for language rehabilitation training of the aged with apoplexy and dementia. CADLT is to examine functional communication and classified into 10 subitems: (1) figure use for reading and writing, (2) language act, (3) the content of verbal and non-verbal, (4) role-playing, (5) deviation, (6). the relationship depending on communitive behavior, (7) transmission by means of non-verbal signs, (8) looking in the face, (9) a sense of humor, and (0) use of metaphor. For evaluation, caregivers was also participated and questioned what is possible in daily living systematically. CADAL did not examine whether question was correctly answered, but was there basic behavior or general communicative ability to answer correctly. But this test could not distinguish if alternative augmentative communication system should be used. The view to evaluate included two: (1) is the helpful reaction to communication represented? and (2) how accuracy it is.
