본 연구는 미술활동을 통한 통합수업이 자폐유아들의 언어능력에 미치는 효과에 대하여 알아보았다. 자폐유아 3명을 대상으로 일반유아와 5개월 동안 통합수업이 이루어졌다. 수업내용으로 통합수업프로그램 적용을 통하여 수용언어와 표현언어의 발생을 관찰, 기록하여 분석하였다. 연구결과 기초선 기간에 나타낸 수용언어 41.4%, 표현언어 29.4% 발생비율이 프로그램을 적용한 실험기간에는 수용언어가 55.6%, 표현언어가 34.5%나 증가 발생하였으며, 유지기간에 수용언어 67.2%, 표현언어 36.4%로 보여준 언어반응은 미술활동을 통한 통합수업의 처음과 비교하여 수용언어 약 30%, 표현언어 약 7%증가율을 보였다. 결과로 알 수 있는 바는 언어사용에 제한을 갖고 있는 자폐유아들에게 비교적 언어사용이 적은 미술을 통한 일반아동과의 통합수업 활동시간을 갖는 것이 자폐아동들의 언어향상에 도움이 된다. 연구결과로서 일반아동들과 자폐아동의 미술통합교육 시간확보와, 통합수업시간에 일반아동과 장애아동이 함께 할 수 있는 미술활동 프로그램 제공의 필요성을 제안할 수 있다.

This study examined the effects of inclusive classes using art activities on autistic infants`` linguistic ability. Three autistic infants were given an inclusive educational program in an inclusive class with common infants for five months. The application of the program was intended to induce the infants to use receptive and expressive language, which was observed and recorded. As a result, the occurrence rates of their receptive language and expressive language, which were 38.7% and 29.4% respectively at the baseline, increased to 55.6% and 34.5% respectively during the experiment period when the program was applied. During the maintenance period, their linguistic responses were improved to 67.2% and 36.4% for each receptive and expressive language, which marked an increase by about 30% and 7% respectively compared to the beginning of the inclusive class using art activities. The results prove that autistic infants having restrictions with their language use can benefit from studying along with general kids in an inclusive environment using art activities with relatively less demand for language use. It is also implied how necessary it is to secure lessons for inclusive art education and provide such art activities programs as provide the opportunities for disabled children to work with non-disabled children during inclusive classes.
