학습장애아동들의 수학학습에 대한 어려움들은 학교에서뿐만 아니라 사회에서도 문제가 된다. 수학장애는 읽기 장애에 비해 체계적 연구가 부족하고 연구의 영역 또한 일부에 국한되어 있다. 여러가지 수학중재방안 중 특정 방법만이 제안될 수 없는 것은 개별아동이 가지는 다양한 문제점에 따라 수학지도의 영역과 방법이 달리 적용되어져야 하기 때문이다. 전반적인 수학 영역에 대한 수학장애아동의 중재방안을 다루지 못하였으나, 학습장애아동의 일반적인 수학능력과 하위유형, 그리고 기본적인 중재방안을 제시하는데 초점을 두었다.

Children with learning disabilities have difficulties in learning mathematics, which might be problems in the community as well as in the school. There are much fewer systematic research in math disabilities than reading disabilities. A specific method could not be suggested as an effective one in many math intervention strategies, because the scope and method must be differential according to their own problems. This study has not covered all the area of math curricula, but focuses on the general math abilities of children with learning disabilities, the subtypes of math disabilities, and basic intervention strategies for them.
