본 연구에서는 기초학문의 중요성이 경시되고 있는 시점에 인문사회계열에 해당하는 특수교육과 신입생들을 대상으로 대학수학교양교과목의 필요성을 강의하여 수학에 대한 태도를 긍정적으로 전환하고자 하였다. 3년 동안 매년 연차적으로 특수교육과 신입생을 대상으로 특수교육을 위한 수리적 이해가 요구되고 강조되어야 하는 당위성에 대한 내용에 초점을 두고강의한 결과, 수학에 대한 태도가 긍정적으로 변화되었음을 본 연구의 결과에서 제시하고 있다. 따라서 수학에 대한 부정적인 태도를 긍정적으로 변화시키기 위해서는 대학생의 수학에 대한 필요성을 전공과 연계하여 인식시키는 노력이 우선적으로 요구되어야 함을 본 연구결과는 시사하고 있다.

Special education is a part of humanity-social science, whereas Mathematics is a part of natural science in the study. However many students who are studying in University evade the courses related with Mathematics. The purpose of this study is to illustrate the effects on generalization of attitudes shift toward Mathematics for students who are studying in the major of special education through the lectures with the necessary of Mathematics. Ninety students, 30 freshman, 30 sophomore, and 30 junior, students who are studying in the major of special education participated in this study. One questionnaire which divided in three parts, the interest on Mathematics, the necessary of Mathematics as cultural subject, and understanding Mathematics for special education. Pre- and post-test were utilized to compare the effects of the lectures which emphasized the necessary and important of Mathematics. The results of this study that (a) the attitudes toward the interest of Mathematics of the students is changed to positively; (b) the generalization effect on attitudes shift toward Mathematics is illustrated to positive in the necessary of Mathematics. Therefore this study concluded that the contents of the lectures which emphasized the necessary of the Mathematics are sufficient to change to the positive recognition from the negative recognition for long time.
