물리적 제약이 상대적으로 적은 정보기술산업과 직업의 급속한 성장은 장애인에게 직업적 기회의 확대라는 희망을 주었다. 그러나 이러한 기대를 현실화하는 데는 어려움을 겪고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 장애인의 정보기술분야 취업, 고용유지, 직업훈련, 취업알선 서비스에 대한 현황을 개별 면접법을 통해 심층적으로 분석하였다. 정보기술분야에 장애인들은 구직에서부터 취업, 고용안정에 상당한 변화를 주기적으로 겪고 있으며 정보기술분야에서의 고용유지를 위해서는 이러한 변화에 능동적인 대처가 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 정보기술분야에 대한 취업 및 직업훈련 서비스와 정책적 시사점이 논의되었다.

Information Technology jobs seem promising for job seekers with disabilities because of their relatively less physical barriers. However, limited number of individuals are employed in IT jobs in reality. Therefore, this study investigated workers with disabilities in IT jobs through in-depth research interviews, regarding their employment, job stability, job training, and employment services. Workers in IT jobs often faced dynamic changes from seeking a job, to being employed, to loosing a job, to staying on the job, etc. The workers needed an ability to actively deal with these frequent changes due to the characteristics of IT jobs. Finally, implications for employment and vocational training services and policies on IT jobs for individuals with disabilities are discussed.
