레닌 식의 유물론의 문제점은 현대 과학의 이론 수준에 부합하지 않으며, 프로이트 정신분석학 같은 다른 돌파구들과 더욱이 20세기 공산주의의 실패도 고려할 수 없었다는 점이다. 이에 지젝은 현실 공산주의의 실패와 이로 인한 ``마르크스주의의 위기``를 극복하려면 그 철학적인 토대가 되는 ``변증법적 유물론의 복권``이 필요함을 강조한다. 왜냐하면 마르크스주의의 위기에는 사회정치적인 좌절뿐만 아니라 변증법적 유물론의 잠정적인 소멸도 있기 때문이다. 이러한 마르크스주의의 정치적이고 철학적인 위기를 넘어서기 위한 아도르노의 전략과 지젝이 내세운 전략의 차이점은 헤겔 변증법의 사변성과 부정의 부정의 공식에 대한 태도에 있다. 아도르노는 헤겔의 관념 변증법과 스탈린주의적인 변유(Diamat)의 공식인 ``부정의 부정``을 비판하면서 그 사변적 동일성의 긍정적인 실정성(positivitat)을 문제점의 핵으로 규정하여 이를 해체하려고 한다. 반면에 지젝은 이러한 부정 변증법적인 시도를 역으로 비판하며 변증법적 유물론이야말로 헤겔의 "객체성에 관한 사상의 사변적 입장"의 진정한 철학적인 상속자라고 주장한다. 한마디로 아도르노가 비판의 화살을 겨누었던 헤겔의 절대 변증법의``사변성``과 아울러 그 핵심인 ``부정의 부정``을 새롭게 해석하여 이를 변증법적 유물론의 확고한 공리(公理)로 설정하는 것이 지젝의 복권 전략이다.
The problematic of Leninist materialism are irrelevant to the theoretic level of contemporary sciences and cannot even consider of the failure of communism in the 20th century besides other breakthroughs such a Freudian psychoanalysis. In order to these crises in Marxism caused by the collapse of the actually existing socialism, Zizek asserts the necessity of rehabilitation of dialectical materialism as a philosophical basis. For, in these Marxist crises, there are not only politico-social setbacks, but also the tentative extinction of dialectical materialism. The difference between Adorno`s and Zizek`s strategy to overcome these political and philosophical crises is in their attitudes about the speculativity and the negation of negation of Hegelian dialectic. Criticizing Hegelian idealist dialectic and the ``negation of negation`` as a formula of the Stalinist Diamat, Adorno tries to deconstruct the positivity of its speculative identity by determining it as its problematic core. In the contrary, Zizek condemns his attempt on this negative dialectic reversely, and maintains that dialectical materialism is the very rightful heir to Hegelian ``speculative position of the thought of objectivity.`` And to conclude, it is Zizek`s rehabilitative strategy that interpreting newly the ``speculativity`` of Hegelian absolute dialectic and the ``negation of negation`` as its kernel, he posits them as the axioms of dialectical materialism.
