< 산성일기 >는 호란이 발발한지 30여년 후, 전쟁 무렵에 쓰인 실기를 수용하고 재편하면서 호란에 대한 기억을 재구성한 작품이다. 따라서 < 산성일기 >는 새롭게 ``창작``된 것이 아니라 기존의 기록을 수용하고 재편하는 방식으로 ``구성``된 작품이라는 점을 유념하며, 그 서술 특성을 논할 필요가 있다. 이 논문에서는 이러한 점에 주목하며, 먼저 < 산성일기 >의 병자호란 실기 수용 양상을 검토하였다. 그 결과 < 산성일기 >가 < 병자록 >의 상당 부분을 번역하여 싣고 있지만, 생략과 축약, 첨가, 재구 등의 다양한 방식으로 내용을 선택적으로 수용, 변용하고 있으며, 첨가된 기록 가운데 < 남한일기 >와 < 남한해위록 >, < 속잡록 > 등에 실린 것과 동일한 기록이 포함되어 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. < 산성일기 >의 작가는 중립적인 서술과 인과적이고 극적인 전개를 지향하며 병자호란의 기억을 재구하고자 했던 것으로 보인다. < 산성일기 >는 < 병자록 >의 내용을 생략하고 축약하면서 특정한 사건을 선택하고 집중적으로 드러내는 한편 몇몇 인물들에 초점을 맞추어 이들을 중심으로 서사를 짜임새 있게 전개시킨다. 또한 서술자가 서술 뒤에 자신을 감추고 관찰자의 위치에 머문 채, 비교적 중립적인 입장에서 서술하려는 경향을 보인다. 주화를 주장하는 이들에게 부정적으로 인식될 만한 행위들이나 그에 대한 평가를 생략함으로써 주화파에 대한 부정적 시선을 최소화하는 한편, 새로운 기사의 첨가를 통해 척화파에 대한 긍정, 부정의 시선을 모두 드러냄으로써 비교적 중립적인 입장에서 양자의 모습을 그려내고 있는 것이다. 한편, < 병자록 >에 기록된 문장의 순서를 바꾸어 번역하거나 재배치하고 특정 인물과 관련된 일화를 삽입함으로써 사건의 인과적 연결고리를 만들고, 독자의 흥미를 이끌어 내는 특징을 보인다.
< Sanseongilgi > is a work recomposing memories of the Manchu war while accepting and reorganizing Silgi that was written in the war after 30 years from the Manchu war. Thus, remembering that < Sanseongilgi > was a reorganized work accepting the existing records instead of newly ``creating``, it would be necessary to discuss its descriptive characteristics. Paying attention to this point, this paper reviewed the aspect of accepting Byeongjahoran Silgi shown in < Sanseongilgi >. In the results, even though < Sanseongilgi > translated the considerable parts of < Byeongjarok >, the contents were selectively accepted/ changed in diverse methods like omission, contraction, addition, and recom- position. Among added records, there were the same records with the contents of < Namhanilgi >, < Namhanhaewirok > and 『Sokjabrok』. The writer of < Sanseongilgi > seemed to recompose the memories of Byeongjahoran(Manchu war) by aiming for the objective and neutral description and causal and dramatic development. < Sanseongilgi > selectively and intensively shows specific incidents by omitting and contracting contents of < Byeongjarok > while systematically developing the description focusing on several characters. Also, the narrator aims to describe in the relatively neutral position as an observer hiding behind the description. Minimizing negative perspective on parties for reconciliation with Qing Dynasty by omitting behaviors or evaluation that could be negatively understood by them, it shows the look of both sides in the relatively neutral position by showing all the positive and negative perspectives on parties against reconciliation with Qing Dynasty through the addition of new articles. Meanwhile, by inserting episodes related to specific characters and changing the order of sentences recorded in < Byeongjarok >, the causal link of incidents is created to induce readers` interest.
