이 글은 유와(?窩) 김이익(金履翼)이 유배지에서 지은 『금강영언록(金剛永言錄)』의 특징과 그 의미를 검토하는 데 목적을 두었다. 그는 관직에 있는 동안 세 차례의 유배를 경험했는데, 그 가운데 세번째 금갑도 유배시기에는 가사 < 금강중용도가 >와 시조집 『금강영언록』을 남기고 있어 주목을 요한다. 이 글에서는 < 금강중용도가 >를 고려하면서 『금강영언록』의 내용적 특징을 살펴보고 금갑도 유배시가로서의 『금강영언록』의 의미를 밝히고자 하였다. < 금강중용도가 >의 내용적 특징은 첫째, 연군 의식을 표출하되 연군의 대상이 단일하지 않다는 점이다. 선왕(정조)에 대한 충정심을 강하게 표출하면서도 선왕의 아들인 지금의 임금(순조)을 향해서도 연모의 마음을 드러내고 있다. 여기에는 유배 상황에 대한 인식 변화와 해배의 현실적 소망이 개입된 것으로 파악된다. 둘째, 『주역』과 『중용』의 중요성과 학문적 탐구의 필요성이 강조된 점이다. 김이익은 세상을 바로 잡기 위해서는 두 책의 가르침이 절실하다고 인식했던 것으로 보이는데, 이는 < 금강중용도가 >에서 『주역』·『중용』의 중요성을 강조한 맥락을 잇는 것이라 할 수 있다. 셋째, 노년의 변화에 대한 인식과 성찰이 발견되는 점이다. 노년에 겪는 몸과 마음의 변화가 상세히 묘사된 점이 흥미로운데 무조건 비탄에 빠지지 않고 인생사의 이치를 깨닫고 지금의 자신을 담담하게 바라보는 태도가 포착되는 작품도 있어 주목할 만하다. 넷째, 사적인 과거 회상과 개인의 내면 고백이 드러난 점이다. 젊은 시절 미모의 여인에게 유혹되었던 순간을 회상한다든가 오래전 사별한 부인을 기억하고 그리워하는 등 지극히 개인적인 과거사를 끌어와 내면을 고백하고 있는 점이 흥미롭다. 금갑도 유배시가로서 『금강영언록』은 < 금강중용도가 >가 긴 호흡으로 선왕을 향한 노래로 일관된 모습을 보여준 것과는 달리, 소일하면서 그 때 그 때 느낀 바를 짧은 호흡으로 담아낸 것이기에 순간순간 자신의 속내가 잘 드러날 수 있었던 것으로 생각된다. 이런 저런 일상의 소소한 감정을 담아내는 과정 속에서 격한 감정도 다소 누그러지고 보다 현실적인 상황 판단도 드러날 수 있었으리라 짐작된다.
The aim of this paper is to examine the characteristics and meaning of Keumgangyengeunrok written by Kim Yi-ik. He went into exile three times, especially he wrote many korean poetry like Keumgangchongyongdoga and Keumgangyengeunrok during his third exile. The characteristics and meaning of Keumgangyengeunrok are as follows. The first, the mind of yearning for the king is exposed in the text. It is important that king who Kim Yi-ik loves is not one person. He misses the late king and shows the royalty to the current king. The change in perception of exile situation is exposed in the text. The second, Kim Yi-ik puts emphasis on the importance of Chuyeuk and Chongyong. Maybe he thought that two books were needed for saving this world. The third, the recognition of old age is exposed in the text. The fact that he was old and ill has risen in prominence. But it is important that emotion in old age is not pessimistically. We can find the realization of the way of the world. The fourth, reflecting the personal past and internal confession are exposed in the text. He remembers the moment that he was tempted by a beautiful woman in his youth, or misses his first wife who was dead early. Kim Yi-ik expresses the royalty to past king through Keumgangchongyongdoga and he often expresses his feeling briefly through Keumgangyengeunrok. It seems that he could open his heart by sijo and soften his feeling. It is important that changes in perception of exile situation and the logic of the situation are expressed.
