이 연구에서는 3명의 대학생 필자를 대상으로 한 편의 설명문을 작성하도록 하였다. 그리고 이 과정을 눈동자 추적 장치로 기록하였다. 3명의 필자들은 쓰기 과제를 마친 뒤 자신의 눈동자 움직임을 보면서 글을 쓰는 동안 어떠한 생각을 했는지를 회상적으로 사고 구술하였다. 여기에서 산출된 결과는 눈동자 추적과 회상적 사고 구술의 결합이 쓰기 과정을 실증적으로 확인시켜 줄 수 있는 방법이라는 점을 보여주었다. 이 방법은 쓰기 과정을 보다 면밀히 살펴볼 수 있게 해 줄 것이다. 그리고 이를 통해서 우리나라 학생 필자들의 쓰기 과정이 갖고 있는 특성을 보다 명확히 파악할 수 있을 것이라 보았다. 더 나아가 눈동자 추적과 회상적 사고 구술의 결합이 과정 중심 쓰기 교육이 직면해 있는 한계점을 돌파할 수 있는 유용한 방법이 될 것이라 보았다.

Three college students participated in the study. They were made a statement of explanation of each. This process recorded by the eye-movement tracker. After finishing writin task, they were reviewing their eye movements that was recorded. During reviewing, they talked about the idea of when came up with for writing. Through this process, this method would confirmed that an appropriate way to navigate the process of writing. This method can make the writing process navigate closely, and can overcome the limitations of process based writing education.
