본 연구의 목적은 고정희 시에 나타나는 정서의 내용과 변화의 의미를 밝히는 것이다. 고정희 시가 갖는 특징은 서정시가 갖는 미학성을 갖추었을 뿐만 아니라 그가 인식한 정치·경제·사회·문화에 대한 문제점을 낱낱이 지적하며 우리 민족의 역사적 현실에 대한 날카로운 비판을 가하고 있다는 점이다. 이러한 이유로 주류 정서의 지배를 받고 있는 여타 시인들의 시에서 찾아볼 수 없는 다양한 감정의 파동을 그의 시편에서는 읽을 수 있다. 이는 고정희가 측은지심, 수오지심, 사양지심, 시비지심의 마음 중 어느 하나에 집중하거나 어느 하나를 배제하지 않고 모두 시에 담아내고 있기 때문이다. 측은지심의 내용으로 담아내고 있는 것은 혼자 사는 외로움을 통한 자기 정체성에 대한 점검과 운명으로서의 여성의 삶에 대한 인식이다. 고정희 시에서 여성에 대한 차별적 대우는 가부장적 관습의 인식에서 오는 부끄러움과 사회구조의 옳지 못함을 미워하는 마음의 표현으로 수오지심을 드러내는 내용이 되고 있다. 사양지심은 인간으로서의 겸손한 마음이 담긴 종교적 구원의식으로 나타난다. 시비지심의 표현은 정치, 경제, 사회 현상의 비합리적이고 부조리한 문제가 내용이 되고 있다. 본 연구는 고정희 시를 대변하고 있는 특징이 그의 시에 표출되고 있는 정서의 작용과 밀접하게 관련을 맺고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 시 작품을 사단설(四端說)로 짚어보고자 한 본 연구는 인간의 본성과 인간적인 가치들에 대한 재인식과 시대상을 추적해볼 수 있게 한다.
The purpose of this study was to illuminate the meaning of the emotional content and changes that appear at poems of Goh jung-hee.
