본고에서는 OECD 회원국 등 40개 회원국을 대상으로 비트코인 수익률과 인플레이션 간 유의한 상관관계가 존재하는지를 점검해 보았다. 분석결과, 비트코인은 자국 통화와의 거래규모가 큰 일부 국가에서 통계적으로 유의한 양의 상관관계를 보였으며 그 정도도 매우 큰 것으로 나타났다. 이들 국가에는 호주, 중국, 영국, 등이 포함 된다. 이러한 결과는 비트코인이 몇몇 국가들에 있어 인플레이션 헤지 수단으로서 기능할 수 있다는 점을 시사한다 하겠다.

We examine whether Bitcoin returns have a relationship with inflation of 40 OECD countries. We find statistically significant and large positive relationships for several countries that provide major Bitcoin trading currencies, including Australia, China, and the United Kingdom. This suggests that Bitcoin may have the potential to be an inflation hedge in a limited group of countries.
