보르헤스의 문학이 환상적이라는 것은 부정할 수 없는 사실이다. 또한 유교가 합리주의를 기반으로 하여 수천 년 동안 아시아의 현실정치의 원리였던 것도 부정할 수 없는 사실이다. 하지만 어울리지 않는 상이한 두 작품, 『도덕경』과 『천일야화』를 한 작가의 작품으로 간주하고 비평하는 것이 바로 튈른의 전통, 다시 말하면 보르헤스 문학의 핵심으로 간주할 수있다. 같은 맥락으로 어울리지 않을 것처럼 보이는 보르헤스의 문학세계와 유교를 비교하는 것은 역설적으로 보르헤스적 문학 전통이라 할 수 있다. 보르헤스 문학의 핵심 개념 중 하나인 보편자(lo universal)의 개념은 유교적 제례의 조상개념과 일맥상통하는 부분이 있다. 한 개인이 사망하고 4대 봉사를 마치게 되면 위패마저 묻게 된다. 개별자로서의 삶은 끝이 나고 조상의 일원이 되는 것이다. 다시 말하면 유교의 제례는 결국 보편자를 향해가는 여정이라 할 수 있다. 그러므로 조상의 개념을 전 인류로 확장시킨다면 유교의 제례를 통해 보편자의 개념은 구체화된다고도 할 수 있다. 또한 무한한 우주의 상징으로서 도서관은 태극도설의 음양오행설과 일맥상통하는 부분이 있다. 주기적으로 반복되는 무한한 우주라는 개념은 유한함속에서 무한함을 추구한다고할 수 있는데 이것이 바로 무극에서 태극으로 태극에서 음양오행으로 이어지는 유교의 태극도설과 일맥상통하는 것이다. 동시에 유일한 책이라는 주제는 일반적으로 성경을 연상하기 쉽지만 다양하고 계속 변화한다는 관점에서 보면 주역이 더 가깝다. 주역 64괘의 다양함은 이미 보르헤스만이 아니라 서양의 사상가들에 의해 언급된 바 있다.

In the same vein, it is paradoxically the tradition of Borges’s literature that compare between Borges’s text and essentials concepts and the confucianism. At first, “the universal”, one of essentials concepts of Borges, a contrary concept of the particular, has something in common with the concept of the ancestor worship in the confucianism. When one person die, after 4 generations worship, will be the ancestor, the object of ancestor worship, finally the memorial services of the confucianism is the process of be a part of the ancestor. Therefore if the concept of ancestor is be extended all mankind, is a concrete form of “the universal”. As the symbol of the infinite universe, Borges used the concept of “Library of Babel”, periodically changing, that is similar with the concept of the theory the Great Absolute, Tae Geuk Do Seol, o Yin-Yang and the Five Elements, Basically it deals with infinite changing, forming, creating the finite world, like “Library of Babel”. And the theory the Great Absolute is written in the I Ching, also known as the Classic of Changes or Book of Changes, so is the symbol of the original one book o the book of sand, one of most important cconcept of Borges. Nevertheless, it is difficult to conclude that there is the closed relation between Borges’s literature and the confucianism. But as mentioned, it is that paradoxically the tradition of Borges’s literature that compare two discordants texts, like this work.
