이 논문은 이상의 시를 대상으로 청각적 기호를 추출하여 분석하고 이를 기초로 시적 자아를 실증적으로 연구하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이상은 자아와 의식 세계 및 육체에 대한 실험적인 작품들을 많이 발표하였으며 그 해석의 폭과 깊이가 다양하여 지속적으로 연구되어 왔다. 특히 이상 시에서 자아의 문제는 그의 시 세계를 규명하는 중요한 열쇠로 간주되어 꾸준히 논의되어 왔다. 본 논문은 이상에 대한 연구 성과를 토대로 하면서도 논의의 시각과 방법에서 전환을 꾀하고자 하였다. 이상의 시를 대상으로 청각적 기호를 분석하고 이를 토대로 연구한 결과, 시적 자아는 ‘부정적 자아’와 ‘비판적 자아’의 두 가지 유형으로 크게 대별되는데 구체적인 양상은 다음과 같다. 먼저 ‘부정적인 자아’가 드러나는 경우 시적 자아는 ‘소외된 자아’, ‘혼돈의 자아’, ‘소진되는 자아’의 세 가지 양상으로 나타났다. 다음으로 ‘비판적 자아’가 드러나는 경우 ‘통찰의 자아’, ‘폭로의 자아’, ‘절망적 자아’의 세 가지 양상으로 나타났다.

The purpose of this study is to collect auditory signs based on the Lee Sang’s poetry and to examine poetic self empirically. Lee Sang had presented many experimental works on self, consciousness and body, and the various readings have attracted considerable attention of many researchers. Especially, poetic self in Lee Sang’s Poetry has been an integral part illuminating his poetry. The study attempts to convert view and method of discussion based on the researches on Lee Sang. Given the analysis of auditory sign of the Lee Sang’s poetry, poetic self in his works would be split into two major types: ``negative self`` and ``critical self``. ``Negative self`` is presented in a threefold manner: ``alienated self``, ``confused self``, and ``exhausted self``. ``Critical self`` is presented in a threefold manner: ``insightful self``, ``debunking self``, and ``desperate self``.
