이 연구의 목적은 제도권 내의 학생 필자와는 다른 성인 필자가 갖는 쓰기 동기 요인과 성인 필자만의 글쓰기 양상을 살피는 데 있다. 성인 필자의 글쓰기 범주는 너무 광범위하기 때문에 `자율성`과 `소통 양상`에 초점을 맞춰 사례연구를 실시하였다. 연구에 참여한 필자들은 직업적인 글쓰기 필자, 자율성을 지니며 소통이 활발한 필자, 자율성을 지녔으나 소통이 활발하지 않은 필자로 나눌 수 있다. 직업적 글쓰기 필자 집단은 `의무감`이 가장 높은 동기 요인으로 나타났고 `상호작용`은 낮은 동기 요인으로 나타났다. 자율성을 지니며 소통이 활발한 필자 집단에서는 `흥미`와 `인정`이 가장 큰 동기 요인으로 나타났고 낮은 동기를 나타내는 요인은 특별히 찾을 수 없었다. 타인과의 소통이 활발하지 않은 필자 집단은 `상호작용`이 낮은 동기 요인으로 나타났음에도 `인정`과 `쓰기신념` 요인이 높은 동기를 형성한 점이 특이했다. 전반적으로 살펴보아 `쓰기 효능감` 요인이 높지 않은 결과는 성인 필자만의 독특한 특성이라 할 수 있다. 또한 `쓰기 신념` 요인은 특히 자율성을 가진 성인 필자들에게서 두드러지는 성향으로 볼 수 있다. 성인 필자의 글에서 나타나는 다양한 양상은 성인 쓰기 교육을 위한 교육 내용과 방법적 측면에 있어 다각도로 검토할 수 있는 기회를 제공하고 있다. 이를 바탕으로 성인 필자를 위해서 실제 글을 쓰는 활동과 문제 해결상황에서 소통할 수 있는 능력을 향상시킬 수 있는 프로그램이 제도권 교육과 성인 쓰기 교육의 양 축에서 모두 개발되어야 한다.
The aim of this study is finding out the writing motivation factor of adult writers that are not in school system and their writing pattern. Because adult writer`s writing category is too broad, case study was conducted by focusing on `self-regulation` and `communication`. Writers are divided into three groups, occupational writers, self-regulated and well communicated writers and self-regulated but not well communicated writers. Occupational writer group showed that `a sense of duty` is the highest motivation factor and `communication` is the lowest. Self-regulated and well communicated writer group showed `interest` and `recognition` are the highest motivation factor. Self-regulated but not well communicated writer group showed that `recognition` and `writing confidence` factor are high motivated, even though `communication` is low motivation factor. Adult writers have especially low value in `writing self-efficacy` factor. `Writing belief` factor was outstanding tendency in self-regulated writers. Various aspects in writing of adult writers make examine diverse ways in educational contents and methods. Practical writing activities for adult writer and programs that can improve communication ability should be developed both in school system and adult writing education.
