This paper examines the changes of traditional Korean song[Gagok] culture in the early 20th century through the review of various documentary records and data. I have already studied the changes and the actual performances in the traditional Korean song culture from 1900 to 1910 by previous studies. This paper is focused on the data around 1920s as a successive work. In the 1920s, the performance of Gagok-Chang was changed into a new form by breaking away from the past. Aspects of the individual and fragmentary performances become mainstream in the same space as the public stage performances. In this period, it seemed that Gagok was treated as `Chosun Goak[Korean classic music]`, and it was enjoyed as a representative of `old music` and `noble music` in many performances. The performances of the Gagok-Chang `Pyeon (編)` in Goongjoong geongjae[royal banquet] < Gyungpungdo >, the playing `Pyeon(編)` in the cooling summer concert, and the fragmentary Gagok performances in various concerts show the aspects of Gagok performances in the 1920s. There was also criticism of the Gisaeng who were in charge of the Gagok performance. The criticism of the Gisaeng who did not know how to sing songs such as Sijo and Gasa but could sing only Japga continued until the early 20s. The Gagok performances of the 1920s was mainly fragmented, but it did not mean that there was no performances such as Gagok Hanbatang. The 12 of the male-female antiphonal songs which Japanese music critic Tanabe Hisao listened to in the 1920s is a typical Gagok Hanbangtang. In addition, it is possible to confirm the compositional pattern of Gagok Hanbangtang during this period through Gainpilhyu or Gagokbogam, which is made for teaching Gisaeng. Even in the 1920s, gramophone record of Gagok-Chang were released. It is a fairly small amount compared to the total gramophone record release rate, but it is the change of Gagok culture according to the chang of music medium. More than half of the Gagok-Chang records were released in the 1920s. In addition, a variety of recordings were produced as participating related persons including Ha Gyuil in the recordings. In particular, it can be noticed that the songs of Gagok such as a serious of Namchang Samsakdaeyeop were also recorded. The greatest change in the 1920s Gagok culture is the beginning of radio broadcasting. Gagok-Chang was not popular among the public at the time, but it was able to overcome the spatial constraints and spread it through radio broadcasting. In the early days of the broadcast, as near as one or two or three songs were called, but Gagok Hanbatang was broadcasted gradually. After that, the form of Yeochang Hanbatang, Sogagok Hanbatang and Namyeochang Hanbatang occupied the mainstream of the broadcasting of Gagok-Chang. The change by radio broadcasting can be called the creation of a new Gagok culture and a transformation of the enjoyment of traditional Gagok with the 20th century.
