The world has been a society in which various cultures coexist for a long time, and Korean society today is also rapidly changing into a multicultural and a multiracial community. Korean society, which has been understood as a racially homogeneous nation, is no exception for this multicultural phenomenon. In addition, as international marriages by Korean men sharply increase, the international marriage migrant women and their children from multicultural families gain a lot of concerns, emerging as a new group in our society. Especially, the nationalities of those children from the multicultural families are Korean, but as they grow in the double culture in which values and attitudes toward life of father and mother are different after their birth, they experience many conflicts and confusions, showing different characteristics from those in general families. When they reach a school age, the social strife they experience and its consequences and maladjusted conditions are aggravated. The emotional chaos and the negative formation of self that take place under the cognition that they are different from others are the social problem we must work on together; we should look for some ways to help them establish self identity and form positive egos in educational aspects. Therefore, in the sense of urgency of helping the children form positive self identity, the purpose of this study is to use traditional fairy tales in aspects of contents, and integrate Korean traditional games into educational theaters in methodology, providing the foothold to motivate the children to learn and deepen interests, so that the positive identity formation takes place. The `dramatic play` suggested as a way of Korean teaching learning in this paper is: The material of Korean language education the current study is to deal with is traditional fairy tales; the suggested specific material is `A Tale of Gang Gam chan,` an imulgyogu tale (a tale of sexual copulation between man and heterogeneous thing). Of course there are some negative views on `A Tale of Gang Gam chan,` because it`s the imulgyogu tale and its narration may strongly give the children from multicultural families the idea that they are different from others. However, I believe that the text of the tale keeps a good understanding with that of the children, and I take notice of this point; the children has the potential power to start with the fact that they are different from others, not denying it, change many hardships they suffer in positive ways and finally overcome them. Also, as the teaching method, the study presents the technique called a `dramatic play` by using Korean traditional games as preliminary stages of each procedure of the instructional process, based upon the existing methods and contents of educational theaters; this is the technique that arranges our traditional games in the step before a class and shows friendliness to the children from multicultural families so that they can express themselves to their hearts` content.
