This study is aimed to identify the predictors of self-determination in high school students with disabilities regarding their post high school academic path and ultimately create support systems and provide ways to address the challenges that they have pertaining to higher education. Korean Education Longitudinal Study data, which was designed and collected by the Korean Educational Development Institute, was used for this study. The data consisted of 298 high school students with disabilities enrolled in regular high school. Chi-square test and multinomial logistic regression analysis were used to analyze the data. As a result, the type of high school that the student attended, whether the student received private education, career counseling, mothers’ educational level, gross household income, and collaboration with other teachers regarding the student’s academic performance were determined to be significant predictors of self-determination in the future education of high school students with disabilities. Based on these results, the study suggests that there needs to be ways to further encourage high school students with disabilities while providing clear action steps for them to make a decision towards higher education.
