이 연구는 기본교육과정을 적용하는 특수학교의 실과의 운영과 교사들의 시각을 통해 실과 교육의 실태를 파악하고 실과 교육의 개선에 필요한 기초 자료를 제시하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 연구 대상은 기본교육과정을 적용하는 전국 특수학교 112개교 중 58개교의 실과 교육 담당 교사 100명을 대상으로 하였다. 선행연구과 교육과정을 토대로 설문지의 문항을 작성했고, 설문지문항의 신뢰도를 검토하기 위해 예비조사를 실시한 후 수정하여 조사를 실시하였다. 연구의 결과는 첫째, 실과담당 교사는 실과 교육에 대해 전반적으로 필요하다고 인식하고 있으며, 일상생활의 기술적 소양 습득을 교육의 목적으로 두고, 대부분 학교가 2009년부터 주당 2시간씩 운영하고 있었다. 둘째, 실과 교육내용은 학생의 수준 및 특성과 가정 및 지역사회 생활에 대한 연관성에 중점을 두고 나와 가정, 식생활, 주거생활, 생활용품 등을 꼭 필요한 내용으로 선정하고 있었다. 셋째 실과의 교수-학습 방법은 학생의 특성과 교육과정을 고려하여 목표를 설정하고 실험, 실습, 조작활동을 주로 하고 있었다. 넷째 실과교육시설은 컴퓨터실과 목공실을 1/3정도의 학교가 갖추고 있고, 실과 교육 실습지는 1/2의 학교가 갖추고 있으며, 단원별 학습자료의 준비는 12% 이하의 낮은 비율의 학교가 갖추고 있었다. 다섯째 실과 교육의 평가는 도구나 용구 사용 능력, 실천적 수행 능력, 문제해결능력 등의 수행능력 성취에 중점을 두고 수행활동을 통하여 평가하고 있었다.
This study aims to determine the status of practical arts education in special schools that apply the basic curriculum including its operating system from teachers’ point of view and to suggest basic data required for the improvement of practical arts education. The objects of research were 100 teachers who are in charge of practical arts education from 58 schools out of the 112 special schools in Korea. The items of questionnaire were made based on preceding research and education curriculum. To verify the reliability of questionnaire items, a preliminary examination was conducted before circulating the questionnaire. The results of research were as follows: First, it shows that practical arts teachers generally recognize the need for practical arts education and most schools have been operating the practical arts class for 2 hours a week focusing on the acquisition of technical literacy for daily life since 2009. Second, the contents of practical arts education consist of compendious subjects such as individual and family, dietary life, housing life and household items focusing on the correlation with the levels and characteristics of students and home and local community. Third, teaching-learning methods of practical arts are to set the goal considering the characteristics of students and education curriculum and to carry out experiments, practice and operational activities. Fourth, 1/3 of schools have computer labs and woodworking studios and 1/2 of schools have practical arts labs and less than 12% of schools prepare the learning materials per each course unit. Fifth, the evaluation of practical arts education is conducted focusing on the performance capability of achievements such as ability in using tools, executive ability and problem solving skill.
