이 논의는 독자의 텍스트 이해에 대한 거시적 측면을 검토해 본 것이다. 독자는 텍스트를 읽으면서 개별적인 개념이나 지식을 부분적으로 이해하는 경우도 있지만 대상에 대하여 깊이 있는 통찰로 안목을 얻는 경우도 있다. 이러한 텍스트 이해의 특성을 멱함수의 법칙으로 설명할 수 있다. 멱함수는 반비례의 상관관계를 나타내는 함수인데 독자의 텍스트 이해에서 작은 이해는 수가 많고, 큰 이해는 그 수가 적다. 독자의 텍스트 이해에 대한 멱함수 그래프에서 오른쪽 부분에 분포하는 큰 이해를 창발적 이해라 하였다. 창발적 이해는 독자의 인식의 전환을 이루는 이해이다. 이 이해는 텍스트나 독자의 인식의 한계를 넘기 위한 노력을 통하여 이루어진다. 독자는 이 창발적 이해에 관심을 가질 필요가 있다. 텍스트 이해에 대한 멱함수 법칙이 주는 시사점은 다음과 같다. 이해의 멱함수 존재, 창발적 이해에 대한 지향, 창발적 이해를 반영한 읽기 교육을 들 수 있다. 텍스트 이해에 대한 멱함수 법칙의 시사점을 바탕으로 읽기와 읽기 교육에 대한 새로운 이해가 필요하다. 특히 멱함수 법칙에서 드러나는 창발적 이해에 대한 인과 관심이 필요하다. 창발적 이해를 설명하고 이를 추구하기 위한 읽기 교육적 논의가 필요하다.

The purpose of this study is to inquire about reader`s the understanding of text based on a macro level. The reader takes a piece of information, concept, idea and knowledge in reading, or he has the deepest insights for a matter of concern the subject. This characteristics of understanding of text can be explained by the power law distribution. From the power law`s viewpoint, the number of the former of reader`s understanding is many, but the latter is a few. In the power law distribution, the part of the few is called the emergent understanding. The emergent understanding is beyond the reader`s present cognition level, and gain a new consciousness. This understanding is achieved through efforts to transcend the limits of the recognition of the text or the reader. Readers need to be interested in this emergent understanding. The implication of power law for reader`s understanding of text are three matter. The need of awareness for the power law in reader`s understanding of text, Oriented towards emergent understanding, and Reading Education Reflecting Emergent Understanding. In short, we take an interest in the power law of reader`s understanding of text, and enables the reader to emergent understanding of text. It is necessary to discuss the emergent understanding and the reading education for this.
