본 연구의 목적은 북한이탈주민 부부의 부부관계 적응과 남한사회 적응 과정을 탐색하는 것이다. 연구자들은 `북한이탈주민 부부의 적응 과정은 어떠한가?`라는 연구문제를 설정하여, 질적연구 방법 중 합의적 질적 연구(CQR)로 개념을 도출하였고, 근거이론의 패러다임 모형을 통해 과정을 분석하였다. 연구자들은 부부 또는 부부와 자녀로 구성된 가족을 이루고 살고 있는 북한이탈주민 12명을 대상으로 심층면접 하여 자료를 수집하였고, 심층면접과 자료수집과정에서는 생명윤리심의위원회의 규정을 준수하였다. 연구결과로, 81개의 개념과, 43개의 하위영역, 18개의 범주를 도출하였고, 안정을 목적한 탈북과 결혼 - 적응 위한 고군분투 및 가족 인식변화 - 이산가족 인식 - 경제적 안정에 최선 - 경제적 어려움 경험 - 다문화 부부갈등 경험 - 적응 실패 불안 - 지속적 지원 필요 등과 같이 8단계의 적응 과정을 도출하였다. 본 연구는 일반화에 제한이 있는 질적 연구의 한계를 갖고 있지만, 이후 북한이탈주민 부부의 적응을 위한 정책과 방향성에 대한 아이디어를 제공한 것에 의의가 있다.

This study was a review on the adaptation process of the North Korean refugee couples in South Korea. The researchers raised the research question of “How is the adaptation process of the North Korean refugee couples?”, and analyzed in-depth interviewed data through the qualitative method. Concepts were elicited through the Consensual Qualitative Research(CQR) method, and the adaptation process were analyzed through the paradigm model of the grounded theory. The researchers collected in-depth interviews with 12 North Korean refugee couples living in a family composed of couples or couples with their children. Data collecting processes and in-depth interviews were observed regulations of the IRB(Institutional Review Board). As a result, 81 concepts, 43 sub-regions and 18 categories were derived and the adaptation process of the 8 phases was the analyzed as following: Escape & Marriage aimed to stability, Struggle for the adaptation & Change of family recognition, Recognition of separated family, Do best for the economic stability, Experience of the economic unstability, Experience of multi-cultural couple conflict, Anxiety of adaptation failure, Need for continuous support. Although this study has limitations in qualitative research with limited generalization, it is meaningful to provide an idea about policy and direction for adaptation of North Korean refugee couples.
