본 연구는 이혼 및 별거, 사별로 인한 가족해체 이후에 한부모 결혼이주여성이 당면한 경제적, 심리·정서적, 사회·문화적 자립경험에 관심을 두고 그 경험의 본질을 이해하고자 하였다. 한부모 결혼이주여성이 가족해체 후 닥친 삶의 난관과 과제들을 극복하고 주체성을 열어가는 과정에서 자립을 어떻게 경험했는가와 그 경험의 본질은 무엇인가를 현상학적 방법으로 접근하였다. 연구자는 현상에 다가가기 위하여 내러티브 인터뷰를 통해 주제를 생성하고 이를 생생하게 기술하였다. 본 연구의 결과로 나타난 한부모 결혼이주여성의 경제적 자립에 대한 경험의 본질은 `생존을 위해 치열하게 살아가기`였으며, 심리·정서적 자립에 관하여는 `숙명을 딛고 일어서기`로, 사회·문화적 자립에 관하여는 `새로운 도전과 도약으로 주체성 열어가기`로 각각 그 경험의 본질이 드러났다. 이러한 이해를 바탕으로 본 연구는 한부모가정과 다문화가정이라는 이중적 특수성에 놓인 한부모 결혼이주여성의 지원과 관련해 실천적인 아이디어를 제시하였다.

This study looks at the economic, emotional·psychological, social·cultural self-reliance experience which single-parent marriage immigrant women face after divorce, separation by death or other reasons. The two approaches were phenomenological. First, how Single-parent marriage immigrant women experienced self-reliance in the course of opening independence while overcoming difficulties and tasks due to family-disorganization and second, what is the essence of such experience. Researcher selected the subject by narrative interview in order to approach the phenomenon and described this very vividly. The result of this research shows the essence of single-parent marriage immigrant women`s economic self-reliance is `living the best for survival`, for emotional·psychological self-reliance, `overcoming given fate`, for social·cultural self-reliance, `Opening Subjectivity through new trials`, With such understanding as the given ground, this study suggests active ideas for supporting single-parent marriage immigrant women who are placed in dual situations of single-parent family and multi-cultural family.
