유년시절 梁柱東은 梁啓超의 『飮氷室文集』을 탐독하였다. 『飮氷室文集』에는 梁啓超의 문학에 대한 견해를 담을 글을 비롯해 세계 각국의 興亡史를 제재로 한 작품들이 여러편 실려 있다. 이는 후에 梁柱東의 작품창작과 초기 시가론 형성에 밑거름이 되었다. 특히, 詩語의 사용, 詩論 등에서 그 관련성이 두드러진다. 양주동과 양계초는 모두 통속적인 시어의 사용을 주장하였다는 점에서 공통적이나, 그 실천 방안에 있어 차이를 보인다. 양계초는 민중 계몽의 입장에서 신명사, 신조어 등 사용을 지향하는 반면, 양주동은 국어학자의 입장에서 외래어의 남용은 非文의 증가를 초래한다고 주장하며 사용을 지양하였다. 그러나 이는 모두 민중의 입장에서 쉽게 이해할 수 있도록 한 것이다. 또한, 양주동과 양계초는 `소년`의 형상을 통해 국난의 극복과 희망적 미래를 노래하였다. 양계초는 「少年中國說」를 통해서 소년에 대한 희망을 품고 제국주의 열강에 대항하여 부국을 꾀하였고, 양주동도 마찬가지로 「조선의 맥박」에서 소년에게 책임을 부여함과 동시에 독립의 염원을 나타내었다. 마지막으로 양주동과 양계초가 주장한 詩論에서 공통점을 발견할 수 있다. 양주동은 시 창작에 있어서 내용과 형식에 부합되는 운율과 음악성을 강조한다. 특히 한국어 문법에 맞는 어휘를 사용하고 내용과 형식의 조화를 이뤄야 한다고 주장한다. 이는 梁啓超가 주장한 이상적 시 창작을 위한 `세 가지 조건(三長說)` 즉 新語句가 시가의 형식에 어우러져 新意境을 창조해낸다는 주장과 그 연관성을 찾아볼 수 있다.

During his childhood, Yang Joo dong studied deeply about Liang qi chao`s 『飮氷室文集』. The 『飮氷室文集』 contains several literatures that rise and fall of different countries in the world as the main subject matter, beside of articles on Liang qi chao`s view of literature. The exploration of these works became the basis for later Yang Joo dong`s creation and early poetic theories, especially on use of poetic diction and criticism on poems. Yang Joo dong and Liang qi chao both insisted on the use of popular language, but the say they did it was different. Liang qi chao was aimed at the use of new nouns, new words, etc. And Yang Joo dong avoided the use of foreign words from the standpoint of Korean linguists. However these two both had same purpose: to make it easy to understand from the standpoint of the people. Yang Joo dong and Liang qi chao used form of `Boy` as a way to find a hope and overcome the national crisis. Liang qi chao had a hope for a boy against the imperialist power for national prosperity through 「少年中國說」. And Yang Joo dong also gave boys responsibility and expressed their desire for independence through 「pulse of Chosen」. We can find a common point in the theory of poetry as claimed by Yang Joo dong and Liang qi chao. Yang Joo dong emphasizes content, form, rhyme, and musicality in poetry creation. Especially he claimed about the importance of balance between contents and form that uses the grammar that suits to Korean. This can be seen as a strong relationship with Liang qi chao`s three conditions for the ideal creation of poetry that he claimed, which is an assertion that balance of new word and the form of the poetry creates newstage.
