백박(白樸)의 『천뢰집(天?集)』 전기사 연구 - 建康으로의 이주 이전을 중심으로

白樸은 원곡사대가의 한 사람이면서 元詞에서도 두드러진 성과를 거둔 대표적인 詞人이기도 하다. 본고에서는 白樸詞에 관한 기존의 연구 성과 위에서 그의 사집인 『天?集』사의 내용을 고찰하면서, 徐凌云이 『天?集編年校注』에서 고증한 창작 연대를 기준으로 전기의 작품에 대해 구체적인 분석을 시도하였다. 일반적으로 백박은 잡극에서 애정 묘사에 뛰어나고, 산곡에서는 玩世滑稽와 詩酒優遊를 주선율로 삼았다는 평가를 받고 있으며, 그의 『천뢰집』 사도 그러한 평가의 범위를 크게 벗어나지 않고 있다. 그러나 지금까지 알려진 평가와는 달리 『천뢰집』 사의 내용을 자세히 탐독해보면 전기의 작품 가운데 다음과 같은 몇 가지 두드러진 특징을 발견할 수 있다. 첫째, 그의 전기사에는 젊은 시절의 풍류생활과 폭넓은 교유에 대한 내용이 담겨있다. 둘째, 그는 금원의 교체라는 시대적 상황을 무비판적으로 수용하여 그대로 순응하면서 황제와 공신들의 공적을 찬양하는 작품을 다수 남겼다. 셋째, 그의 전기사에는 소수이지만 민생의 질고와 시대적 현실을 반영한 작품도 있어 그의 내면에 잠재하는 시대정신과 애민사상을 엿볼 수 있다. 넷째, 만년에 建康에 이주하여 시와 술로 유유자적한 삶을 살기 전에 이미 그의 전기 작품에는 기나긴 타향살이에 대한 염증으로 조용한 곳에 안착하고 싶어 하는 여망이 나타나있다. 이것들은 그가 인생 후반기에 명리와 부귀영화도 부질없다는 삶의 이치를 깨닫고 嘆世歸隱이라는 원대 문인의 보편적인 정서를 노래하는 단초가 되기도 한다.

Baipu is one of four masters on drama in Yuan(元) dynasty and a representative Ci(詞) literature writer to achieve the remarkable performances. This study aimed to investigate the contents of Tianlaiji(天?集) which is his Ci literature collection based on the existing study results on Baipu`s Ci literature, and to perform concrete analysis on his earlier period of works upon writing years ascertained in Xulingyun`s Tianaiji`s exegesis(天?集編年校注). Generally, Baipu was excellent to describe love affairs in Zaju(Yuan dynasty drama), and was evaluated to live his life freely without any restriction in the common customs enjoying rest of his life quietly with alcohol and poems in Sanqu( non-dramatic song of Yuan dynasty). His Tianlaiji is not beyond the scope of evaluation significantly. However, several characteristics among the works in the earlier period could be detected from reading Tianlaiji thoroughly as follows unlike the evaluation so far. First, Ci in his earlier period consisted of the contents on artistic life when he was young and wide companionship. He was not discouraged or wandered on collapse of Jin(金) dynasty, but enjoyed his youth fully under the protection of powered class in Yuan dynasty from the influence of his father who had been naturalized into Jin, South Song(南宋), and Yuan dynasty in order, expanding his companionship regardless of hierarchy classes. Second, he acknowledged complying with the situation that Jin dynasty changed into Yuan without criticism, leaving the works that praised the performances of King and worthy retainers. Although most of them are criticized as coarse and clumsy works in view of literature, they are important data to understand view of life in his youth and manhood periods, and companionship in view of ideology. Third, a few Ci in his early period reflected the reality in the times and sickness of people`s livelihood which could tell his latent mind and thought on the people. These are very rare masterpieces that hardly found in Ci in Jin and Yuan, and Baipu could be considered to succeed to the personality of Ci writer in Northern area from Su Shi to Xin Qiji and Yuan Haowen. Fourth, before hanging loose with poems and alcohol upon movement into Jiankang (currently Nanjing) in his late period, his early period works showed the desire to arrive safe in the quiet place due to tiredness upon long live away from home in his early works. These would be the clues to sing the casual sentiment of the literati in Yuan dynasty that would retire quietly to sigh the world, realizing the principle of life that fame, wealth, and honor were useless in his late life.
