As an initial stage of foundation of “Bukhak”, He uses various way of reading China to grasp the facts and essence of China, such as A bird`s-eye view, Analysis, Contrast, Distinction, and Communication. `Bird`s-eye view` was used for verifying large scale of China, `Analysis` was for revealing a detailed system of China, and `Contrast` was for reviews of history on shifting of `Myung dynasty and Chung dynasty` as well as for prospects, and current situation of China. It also used for reviews on 18th century of Chosun. He used `distinction` as a method of criticizing the Chosun`s point of view that recognized entire China as a country of `ORANKE`- barbarian- by contrasting “Chinese heritage(中華)” as a cultural substances with “Chung” as a political substance. `Communication` was used to emphasize importance of the mutual understanding and interchange in many fields between China and Chosun, and he showed such an example by contacting many famous intellectuals in China. It served as major momentum for tradition of interchange of intellectuals between China and Chosun. 3. The method of Chinese-reading as indicated above was accepted to general method of `Bukhak-group`, and it contributed to try to convert discourse on China in 18th centry of Chosun.
