This thesis is written to study on meaning of cultural history in 『Guests who came to the last bus』 : the novel by Hong Seong-won, the movie and others. The novel 『Guests who came to the last bus』 is the story that the three pairs of men and women, Dongmin-Boyeong, Gyeongseok-Sejeong, Chunghyeon-Hyojin meet or farewell in couples. Dongmin was the terminally ill patient contracted pulmonary tumors. Boyeong taked care of him with her utmost sincerity. Sejeong was unhappy to be rich rather, because Her relatives had be on the alert for a chance to seize her property. Chunghyeon is tormented by farewell to Hyojin. The novel dealt with the issue of the death and money. He has committed suicide by taking poison finally. The novel 『Guests who came to the last bus』 is a kind of a middlebrow novel. Yu Hyeonmok, the film director had recreated the movie 『Guests who came to the last bus』 in the based on the novel. He had described the psychology of characters through the editing and acoustic effects. This has been a masterpiece literary and artistic film. The 『Guests who came to the last bus』 combines artistry and popularity. And it reflects the Korean society and culture in the 1960s.
