이 논문은 『아베의 가족』을 통해서 사사화(私事化)되는 역사적 사상(事象)을 연구하였다. 작품 속에서 지주제(地主制) 문제가 어떻게 개인적인 일로 되었는지, 미군의 강간으로 인한 사생아 출산이 어떤 방식으로 사사화(私事化)되었으며, 양공주, 미국이민, GI라는 모티브에서 파생된 내러티브 속에서 당시 미국이라는 기표가 갖고 있는 기의를 추출해 냈다. 이것들은 한국전쟁에 관련해서 국가나 지배층의 무능(無能)과 문제해결력의 부재(不在)가 개인적 삶의 서사(敍事)뒤에 숨어서 형체를 드러내지 않고 있다. 이에 지금까지 소설 속 인물에게 지난하게 짊어지운 이데올로기적 인식을 제거하고 역사적 사상(事象)이 어떤 내러티브를 거쳐 사사화(私事化)되었는가를 고구(考究)한 면에 있어 의미가 있다.

This thesis has studied historical events that become personal affairs through the novel “Abe`s family”. I studied how the landlord problem became personal and how the birth of the illegitimate child due to US military raids became personal affairs. In the narrative derived from the motif of a foreigners` whore(Yang Pyo-ju), American immigrant, and GI, I extracted the symbol of the American sign of the time. These have shown that the incompetence of the state or the ruling class and the absence of problem-solving power in relation to the Korean War are hidden behind the narrative of personal life. It is meaningful in terms of studying how a historical event is personalized through a narrative, removing ideological perceptions that have burdened so many burdens on the characters in novels so far.
