The objective of this paper is to research the specialty and gender sensitivity of women`s foreign journey narration in the 1990s. The women`s journey narration in the 1990s is the product of the changed gender perception and newly-reorganized cultural topography in the 1990s. Especially, Moscow, Berlin, North Africa, and Middle East which used to be the `tabooed` and `unknown` land are the places symbolizing the post-ideology/post-national period, as travel spots newly grabbing attention in the changed political environment of the 1990s. Works by Gong, Ji Young, Lee, Na Mi, and Kim, Ji Woo are based on Moscow and Berlin. In these works, Moscow and Berlin are expressed as places filled with chaos, absence, and illusion losing the identity of revolution and mythical meanings. Here, female characters seek for lives after the 1990s by going through the rite of passage like saying goodbye to the past. Works by Kwon, Hyeon Sook, Seo, Young Eun, and Kang, Gyu are based on Algeria, Iraq, and Egypt. These places realize romantic deviance and road roman. However, instead of simply remaining in the position of traveler, women aim to actively negotiate with local people. They become places for women to discover nomadic life crossing the boarder after overcoming the meaninglessness of life. This is a new sensitivity of women`s journey narration of the 1990s, and the ethical implication of feminist journey.
