이 논문은 한국의 근대문학 형성과정에서 아나키즘이 갖는 의미와 영향을 이해하기 위해, 1910∼20년대 일본의 아나키즘 사상과 문예론의 관계를 살핀 글이다. 초창기 근대문학의 주역들이 일본에서 수학하던 시기의 사상 문화적 상황과 아나키즘 사상이나 문예론의 성립과정은 매우 밀접하게 연결되어 있다. 우선 1910년대 일본에서 유행하던 개인주의 중에서 슈티르너(Max Stirner)나 베르그송(Henri-Louis Bergson) 등의 사상은 일본 아나키즘 사상의 성격 형성이나 특징에 많은 영향을 주었다. 사회나 국가와 구별되는 개인에 대한 인식, 그 속에 담긴 생명주의나 자연관, 정신주의 등에서 개인주의와 아나키즘의 공통지반이 확인된다. 또 아나키즘은 전 시대에 유행하던 자연주의의 대안으로서 새로운 문예사조로 소개되던 신낭만파와 많은 접점을 공유하고 있다. 그리고 일본의 사회주의의 한 갈래로 출발한 아나키즘은 이상주의 등과 결합하면서 프롤레타리아 문학 형성과 전개에도 큰 의미와 영향을 주게 된다. 한국의 근대문학 형성에 아나키즘 사상이 갖는 의미와 영향은 대단히 포괄적이다. 몇몇 아나키스트 시인이나 소설가의 작품뿐만 아니라 초창기 한국문학 전체에 그 흔적을 남기고 있다.

This study discussed the relationship between Japan`s anarchism and literature in the 1910s-20s to understand the significance and impact of anarchism on the formation of modern literature in Korea. The philosophical and cultural circumstances of Japan when the early leaders of modern literature were studying in Japan are closely related to the formation of anarchism and literature. First of all, among the thoughts of individualism popular in Japan in the 1910s, the thoughts of Max Stirner and Henri-Louis Bergson significantly impacted the characteristics of Japan`s anarchism. Both individualism and anarchism are found in the perception of individuals distinguished from the society or nation and the underlying philosophy of lifism, nature view, and spiritualism. Also, anarchism shares many similarities with Neo-romanticism that was introduced as a new alternative for the previously popular naturalism. Anarchism, which started out as a branch of socialism in Japan, combined with idealism to play a significant role for the formation and development of proletarian literature. The significance and impact of anarchism on the formation of modern literature in Korea are very inclusive. Anarchism is reflected in the entire early literature of Korea, not just in the work of a few anarchist poets or novelists.
