In this paper I aimed at enlightening the writer of < ToGulGa > that means a song of cave dweller`s and it`s meaning as a text producted in 19c. Yongam Chuihak was a zen-monk writer who had been stayed at a cave on Kumgang mountain in 19c. His name had been written at some scripts of this work, but there was no information to enlighten his life and thoughts. In this paper I make sure of the writer`s life and this work`s theme, structure and it`s meaning of the times. This work contained some main themes, the reason why the author seek for cave, and how he process to cave and what kind of happiness he gain at this space. And also he claimed to the peoples who lived in the world of desire that there are no ways to the Buddhist paradise except devotion to practice zen and the repetition of Amida Buddha. And he had an idea that zen practice do not conflict with the repetition of Amida Buddha. In the side of the literary style, it contained a lot of styles that had been circulated as the Buddhist literacy styles. For examples, a prayer, a song of soliciting contributions for religious purposes, and Buddhistic poem written by Chinese letter. It may be seems to be a vague structure. But It could be evaluated that it has a complex structure to supply diverse code of impressions to readers. And it seems to me that < ToGulGa > had reflected the tendency of the Buddhist circles in 19c. At that times it was a natural tendency that a monks practice zen in a hard way and study Buddhist canon at the same time. And a monk devote himself to zen and he stress other peoples to devote themselves to the repetition of Amida Buddha at the same time. In this paper I do not introduce the distribution of it`s different versions and it`s regional intercourse with each other. It may be needed to another report.
