북쪽은 `우리식`과 `민족적인 것`을 강조를 하며 지속적으로 전통을 재생산해내고 있다. 그들을 과거를 해석하는 작업을 통해 현재를 유지하려 한다. 2000년대 창작된 총서 ≪불멸의 향도≫에는 이러한 성향이 더욱 짙게 나타나고 있다. 이 연구의 목적은 과거를 통해 현재를 유지하고자하는 북쪽의 노력이 문학작품 속에서 어떻게 투영되고 있는가를 살피는 데 있다. 총서 ≪불멸의 향도≫『총검을 들고』에 나타난 아버지와 그를 모방하려는 아들들의 모습을 통해 아버지의 의미와 그들의 지향을 밝히고자한다. 총서 ≪불멸의 향도≫ 중 송상원의 『총검을 들고』는 2002년 창작된 작품이다. 이 작품은 금강산댐 건설과 강릉잠수함 좌초 사건을 주요 내용으로 하고 있으며, 선군정신을 주제로 다루고 있다. 금강산댐 건설은 북쪽의 전력난 악화에서 시작된 것이지만 이 작품은 전력난 해소라는 근본적인 요인을 유훈아래 지우고 있다. 그리고 아버지가 되고 싶어 하는 김정일과 김남철이라는 두 인물을 통해 아버지를 재생산해내고 있다. 작품은 인물들의 아버지의 재생산과정을 통해 전통을 재해석함으로써 전통의 의미를 찾고, 자신들의 정체성을 확인하고자하고 있다. 『총검을 들고』를 통한 이 연구는 전통과 근대를 재구성하는 방식으로 현재를 살아가려는 북쪽의 단면을 살펴보는 첫 번째 작업이 될 것이다.

North Korea has been reproducing their tradition emphasizing on `our own way` and `ethnics`. They try to maintain their existing state by interpreting the past. A series ≪an Immortal guide≫, written in 2000`s, shows the strong tendency. The objective of this study is to examine how North Korea`s effort to maintain their present state is projected in literary works. It aims at presenting the meaning of father figures and their intentions through their son figures imitating their fathers in a series ≪an Immortal Guide≫, "Holding the bayonet". Song Sang Won`s "Holding the Bayonet", one of the series, was created in 2002. It states about Kum Gang Mt. dam construction and the stranding of a submarine in Kangnung. The main subject of this work is the `military-first idea`. While the aggravation of electricity had caused the construction of the dam, this novel insists the termination of electricity shortage was due to the instructions of the departed. Two characters, Kim Jungil and Kim Namchul, wanting to be a father, reproduce a father figure. The author tries to show the meaning of tradition and to find their real identity by interpreting their tradition in the process of characters` father reproduction. This research will be the first work which tries to see through the features of North korea striving to live their present life by reorganizing tradition and modernity.
