이 논문은 영화 <좋은 놈, 나쁜 놈, 이상한 놈>에 나타난 만주의 의미를 가치를 탈주하는 공간으로서의 만주, 마적단과 독립군의 모호한 경계, 외연적 대립을 해체한 만주만의 삼각구도라는 3가지 관점에서 고찰해 보았다. 영화 <좋은 놈, 나쁜 놈, 이상한 놈>에는 국가나 민족으로 대표되는 경계지움으로 이루어진 기존 가치나 개념이 해체된 체로 존재한다. 이를 가장 상징적으로 보여주고 있는 것이 만주벌판을 횡단하는 대륙열차이다. 다양한 인종이 뒤엉키고, 총칼이 난무하는 난투극이 벌어지는 열차씬 등을 통해 영화는 화려한 액션씬 이면의 기존 가치체계 전복에 대한 새로운 관점을 보여준다, 만주벌판, 대륙횡단 기차와 함께 이 영화의 화려한 액션씬을 주도하고 있는 또 다른 키워드는 마적단이다. 그런데 이 영화에 등장하는 주요 등장인물군인 마적단과 독립군의 위상은 그다지 변별점이 없어 보인다. 그도 그럴 것이 실제 일제 강점기 만주에서 활동하던 마적단과 한국 독립군의 경계지점 자체가 다분히 모호했기 때문이다. 이러한 시대적 상황을 반영하듯 영화는 기존에 우리가 가지고 있던 독립군에 대한 긍정적인 의미의 환상을 무너뜨린다. 일제강점기 한국인들의 불안한 신분과 만주라는 카오스적 공간에 대한 이해가 전제될때 우리는 이 영화가 삼각구도를 통해 만들어내고 있는 다중적 의미의 대립양상을 비로소 이해할 수 있게 된다. 이 영화의 세 놈들 중 이상한 놈 윤태구가 이 영화의 마지막 승자로 살아남을 수 있었던 이유는 윤태구야말로 그 때 그 때 상황에 따라 좋은 놈이기도 하고 나쁜 놈이기도 한, 그러면서도 좋은 놈과 나쁜 놈의 그림자를 모두 가지고 있는 가장 카오스적 존재였기 때문이다.
This study examined the meaning of Manchuria described in movie The Good, the Bad, the Weird from three viewpoints: Manchuria as a space for escaping from values; vague boundary between bandits and independence forces; and the triangular structure of Manchuria dissolving denotive confrontation. In movie The Good, the Bad, the Weird, established values or concepts consisting of demarcations represented by nation or people exist in a dissolved form. The space showing this most symbolically is the transcontinental train crossing the Manchurian plain. Through the train scenes where various ethnics are intermingled and violent fights with knives and guns take place, the movie shows a new viewpoint to the overturn of existing value systems behind the splendid action scenes. Along with the Manchurian plain and the transcontinental train, another keyword leading the splendid action scenes of this movie is bandit. However, bandits and independence army soldiers, who are the main characters of this movie, do not look distinguished from each other in status. It is because the boundary between bandits and Korean independence forces acting in Manchuria during the period under the rule of Japanese imperialism was somewhat ambiguous. Probably reflecting such a historical situation, the movie breaks down our fantasy on the positive image of independence armies that we have maintained. Only when Korean people`s instable status and the chaotic space of Manchuria during the period under the rule of Japan are understood, we can understand the pattern of confrontation among multilayered meanings created by the movie through triangular structure. Of the three guys in the movie, the weird guy Yoon Tae-goo survives as the last winner and it is because he is the most chaotic being, sometimes good and sometimes bad depending on the situation and, at the same time, having the shadows of both the good and the bad.
