본고는 대학 <글쓰기>의 한 방식으로 스토리텔링(Storytelling)을 활용한 글쓰기를 제시하였다. 이것은 다양한 방식의 글쓰기 교육을 통해 지식기반사회(knowledge-based society)에서 유연하고 창의적으로 대처하는 글쓰기 능력을 닦는 과정을 연습하고 이 과정을 통해 대학생에 걸맞은 다양한 텍스트를 재구성, 가공, 개작하여 글을 재생산, 재활용할 수 있게 함으로써 문제를 주도적으로 해결해나가는 창의적 작문 능력 양성에 그 지향점을 두고 있다. 자기(The Self)라는 존재가 생성되고 표상되는 과정에서 스토리(Story)는 중요한 역할을 한다. 따라서 발전적이고 긍정적인 자기스토리를 쓰기 위해서는 `자기반성`을 가져야만 한다. `자기소개서` 글쓰기의 기본은 자기 자신에 대한 반성이다. 내가 잘못 했을 수도 있다는 생각, 자기 자신의 오류를 찾아내는 능력이야말로 인간을 인간답게 하는 인간만의 능력이다. 그렇지만 자기 이야기만으로 글쓰기가 완성되는 것은 아니다. 스토리텔링(Storytelling)에서 텔링(telling)은 단순히 말하기가 아니다. 그 속에는 자기만의 의미와 가치, 그리고 변화된 양상이 반드시 들어가야 한다. 이것은 개인마다 자신의 경험에서 파생되었기 때문에 고유하며 독특한 의미를 갖게 된다. 자기라는 대상을 통해 스스로 자기의 이야기를 발견하고 재인식하는 것이 스토리텔링과 자기소개서를 결합한 가장 큰 동인(動因)인 것이다.
