본고는 이성부의 백두대간 시의 개념을 정립하고 시적 형상화의 원리를 밝히는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이성부 시 세계 후반부 대부분을 차지하는 산시에 대한 고찰은 또한 그의 시 세계 전체를 조망하기 위해 필요한 과정이기도 하다. 그는 백두대간 시를 통해 공간의 도처에 서려 있는 현대사의 상처, 즉 의병, 군인, 빨치산의 쟁투는 물론 민간인 집단 학살의 참상을 드러내는데, 역사의 현장을 포착하여 사건이나 이야기의 장면을 구조화하는 방법을 사용하였다. 백두대간에서 처참하게 자행되는 환경 파괴를 비판하고 현대 자본주의 문명에 대한 반성을 행하기도 한다. 지리산에서 백두산까지 이어지는 백두대간을 시화한다는 것은, 단절된 민족의 분단 상황을 고발하는 동시에 공동체의 회복을 염원하고 지향한다는 것과 궤를 같이 한다. 공동체의 전망을 제시하는 시에서는 체험이 내재화되고 신념의 진술이 더욱 관념화하는 양상을 살필 수 있다. 이성부의 백두대간 시는 초기부터 이어오던 현실 비판정신이 미래에 대한 전망으로 연결되는 분기점에 해당하며, 방법적으로는 현장체험의 실제성을 드러내고 기법화하는 계기로 작동한다.
The process of consideration of Lee Seong-bu`s mountain poem, which occupies most of latter half of his poetic world, is indispensable for catching a glimpse of his entire poetic world.Among the mountain poems of Lee Seong-bu, the poem titled “Baekdudaegan Mountain Range” has significant meaning distinctive from that of other mountain poems in terms of motif and contents. Lee Seong-bu finds the scar suffered by group beyond personal scar while he was staying in Baekdudaegan Mountain Range to escape from reality. Looking into the scar left by the tragedy of Gwangju in 1980, his poems reveal mass slaughter of civilians, as well as the scar in contemporary times, i.e., the struggle and horrible experience of militia and struggle of partisans, which can be found every nook and cranny of Baekdudaegan Mountain Range. In addition, he criticizes the terrible environmental devastation in Baekdudaegan Mountain Range and reflects on civilization of contemporary capitalism. Such denial consciousness was originated from early poetic world of Lee Seong-bu and becomes even more mature along with deepening historic consciousness and reflection on civilization. Poetic reflection of Baekdudaegan Mountain, which runs from Mt. Jiri to Mt. Baekdu, mirrors division of the country with broken link of Baekdudaegan Mountain, and at the same time, represents the wish and pursuit of community restoration. The poem of Lee Seong-bu, titled `Baekdudaegan Mountain Range`, corresponds to a junction that provides a link between spirit of criticism towards reality which lasted from early period and outlook for the future. In terms of methodology, it serves as an opportunity to break out of conventional ideological expressive method and to achieve specificity and present sense of experience.
