본 연구는 드라마 <뿌리 깊은 나무>가 세종을 메인 서사주체로 삼은 건국신화적 문화영웅일대기라는 사실을 규명하고자 하였다. 서사원형이 되는 <용비어천가(龍飛御天歌)>가 실은 세종을 건국시조로 설정한 건국신화라는 새로운 학설을 수립하는 것으로 연구의 출발점을 잡았다. 조선의 건국시조가 태조(太祖) 이성계(李成桂)란 사실이 역사학계의 통설이지만, 조선정부가 공식적으로 발표한 유일한 건국신화인 <용비어천가>에서 나타난 인식은 다르다. 목조(穆祖)-익조(翼祖)-도조(度祖)-환조(桓祖)-태조(太祖)-태종(太宗)의 6대기가 세종에서 끝나는 7대기로 마무리 되고 있는 <용비어천가>는 건국시조에서 끝이 나는 건국신화의 세대기(世代記)>의 전형적인 구성원리로 볼 때, 태조가 아니라 세종을 건국시조로 한 건국신화가 되기 때문이다. 드라마 <뿌리 깊은 나무>에서 이도를 세종조선창건의 문화건국영웅으로 보고 있는 것 대한 신화사적 인식의 근거를 바로 여기서 찾을 수 있다. 우선, 본 연구에서는 선행 건국신화 연구사에서 주목되지 않았던 이러한 왕조내재적인 국가단위 문화질서 교체와 부자갈등의 양상을 확인함으로써 드라마 <뿌리 깊은 나무>가 기대고 있는 건국신화적 서사의 원류를 확인하였다. 한편, 드라마 <뿌리 깊은 나무>가 세종조선의 문화질서 창업이라는 건국신화적 인식논리를 기반으로 성립된 일종의 미디어 소설이라는 사실을 확인하고자 했다. 구체적으로 <단군신화>의 문화영웅건국신화가 <주몽신화>의 문화영웅일대기적 건국신화로 이동하는 가운데 민본주의 이념은 그대로 유지하는 가운데 장편화가 진행되었다는 관점에서 드라마 <뿌리 깊은 나무>의 서사구성원리를 살펴봄으로써 입증하였다.

This study was based on the fact that drama < long rooted > is hero`s narrative type that made a main agent of Sejong. Transforming from original novel to drama, theme of drama < long rooted > is changed to democracy not Independence against Ming(明) and Hangeul creation that was one of achievements is focused on representative achievement. In this course, Hangul creation became a object to reveal drama`s thematic consciousness of democracy. Hangul is a symbol to materialize visually the democratic national idea of Sejong`s Chosun that Sejong attempted to replace Taejong`s Chosun with. In this regard, Sejong became a Cultural Hero that brought democratic Chosun differentiated from Taejong Chosun into existence by making cultural technology that the people can use and openning a door for life that the people can desire with subjectivity. Frirst of all, this paper confirmed narrative headwaters of birth myth that drama < long rooted > is based on as search this cultural order`s change with unit of state in dynasty and aspects of conflict between father and son that haven`t been attentioned in the former history of research. On the other hand, this paper proves the fact that drama < long rooted > is the media novel that comes into existence based on birth-mythical recognition logic, through birth mythical historical progress that democracy idea was passed itself and lengthening was progressed while cultural hero`s birth myth of < Dangun mythology > moved to cultural hero`s life of < Jumong mythology > and narrative composition principal of drama < long rooted >.
