본 연구에서는 대학생의 강점인식과 대학생활적응 수준의 관계에서 강점활용 및 진로정체감의 매개효과를 확인하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 대학생 201명(남 114명, 여 87명)을 대상으로 강점인식, 강점활용, 진로정체감, 대학생활적응 수준을 측정하는 설문을 실시하였다. 설문 결과에 대해 SPSS 23.0을 활용하여 신뢰도 분석, 기초통계 분석을 실시하였고, AMOS 20.0을 활용하여 2단계 구조방정식 모형 분석을 실시하였다. 또한 Bootstrap 방법을 통해 매개효과의 유의성을 검증하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대학생의 강점인식은 강점활용, 진로정체감, 대학생활적응과 정적인 관계가 있는 것으로 나타나 강점인식 수준이 높을수록 강점활용, 진로정체감, 대학생활적응 수준이 높은 것으로 확인되었다. 둘째, 구조방정식 모형 분석 결과, 강점인식은 강점활용과 진로정체감에 정적인 영향을 끼치고, 강점활용은 진로정체감 및 대학생활적응에 정적인 영향을 끼치며, 진로정체감이 대학생활적응에 정적인 영향을 끼치는 것으로 보고되었다. 즉, 대학생의 강점인식과 대학생활적응의 관계는 강점활용 및 진로정체감에 의해 매개되는 것으로 나타났으며, Bootstrap 분석을 통해 매개효과의 유의성이 검증되었다. 이어 본 연구 결과의 함의 및 대학생 상담 실제에서의 시사점과 후속 연구에 대한 제언을 논하였다.

The purpose of this study was to identify mediating effect of strengths use and career identity on the association between strengths knowledge and undergraduate student`s adaptation. For this, a total of 201 undergraduates(114 males, 87 females) were asked to complete the questionnaires measuring strengths knowledge, strengths use, career identity, undergraduate student`s adaptation. The data were analyzed through Cronbach`s reliability coefficient, frequency, and descriptive statistics using SPSS 23.0, and two-step approach was adopted in order to analyze the Structural Equation Modeling through AMOS 20.0. In addition, the mediation effect was tested with a bootstrap procedure. The main findings were as follow. First, the findings in a correlation analysis indicated that all variables were positively correlated. Second, as a result from structural equation modeling, strengths knowledge showed positive effects on strengths use and career identity, strengths use showed positive effects on career identity and undergraduate student`s adaptation, and career identity showed positive effects on undergraduate student`s adaptation significantly. There were mediation effects of strengths use and career identity on the relation between strengths knowledge and undergraduate student`s adaptation. And the indirect effect was significant. These findings contribute to the understanding of the path between strengths knowledge and undergraduate student`s adaptation and highlight the important role of strengths use and career identity. Finally the implications of these findings for counseling practice and recommendations for future study were discussed.
