이 논문은 휴 J. 실버만(Hugh J. Silverman)이 해체적 해석학적 기호학의 관점에서 자서전적 텍스트성을 논의한 연구를 참조하여 이청준의 연작소설 <가위 밑 그림의 음화와 양화>의 자서전적 텍스트성을 분석하면서 동시에 기존 자서전 이론을 비판적으로 재구성한다. 첫째, 이 연작 텍스트는 소설(픽션)과 자서전(논픽션)의 경계면에 놓이는 `경계 장르`(limit genre)이다. 연작의 곁텍스트들은 허구성을 강조하나 역설적으로 실제세계와의 지시 관계를 강조한다. 둘째, 이 텍스트는 `파편적 자화상`의 양식으로서 자기 탐구를 수행한다. 따라서 자서전 텍스트의 일반적인 연대기적 시간 질서가 아닌 파편적 시간질서의 시간성을 지녔으며, 이 시간성은 또한 공간성과 함께 주어지고 상호배치 된다. 셋째, 자서전적 텍스트가 개인 삶의 진술이라는 기존의 고정관념을 탈피하여 개인성과 사회성의 경계의 지점에 놓인다는 점을 텍스트 읽기/해체를 통해 지적했다. “개성적 삶과 사회적 삶의 동시적 드러냄”이라는 이청준의 소설적 윤리와 이상은 이 연작에서도 타인들의 삶을 자신의 삶과 더불어 성찰하는 방식으로 수행된다. 마지막으로, 자서전적 텍스트성은 단순히 진술의 내용도 아니고 진술의 형식도 아닌, 양자가 함께 주어진 것임을 살펴보았다. 소설 텍스트를 자서전적 텍스트로 읽을 때 진술의 내용뿐만 아니라 부재자의 텍스트를 읽는 액자식 구성 등 진술 형식과 문체, 특이한 징후적 대목이야말로 작가의 자서전적 텍스트성이 발현되는 지점이다. 자서전적 텍스트성의 경계적 특징, 또는 미결정적인 특징은 이청준의 텍스트뿐만 아니라 다른 작가의 다른 텍스트에도 접근 가능한 비평 모델이라는 점에서 자서전 이론 및 텍스트성 이론의 확장에 기여한다.

This study deconstructs Lee Chung-jun`s Novel series, The Negative and Positive of Picture Under Scissor, with Hugh J. Silverman`s view of deconstructive hermeneutic semiology. Lee`s text is, first, the limit genre which is placed in interface between novel(fiction) and autobiography. Second, the temporality of this text is constituted fragmentarily. And autobiographical textuality is the co-giveness of temporality and spatiality. Third, autobiographical text is not an confession of individual`s life, but it is placed between individuality and sociality. Lastly, autobiographical textuality is the interleaving of contents and form. This study will be a contribution to research of autobiography theory and textuality theory, because of its theoretical expandability.
