『조선출판경찰월보』는 1928년 9월부터 1938년 11월까지 간행된 총독부 출판경찰의 조선 검열 기록이며, 『조선총독부 금지단행본목록』은 1928년 10월부터 1941년 1월까지 압수 및 출판 금지된 단행본의 검열 기록이다. 본고는 이 두 자료를 중심으로 일제강점기 출판물 가운데 단행본 소설의 검열과 문학사적 의의를 고찰하고자 하였다. 그 결과 『조선출판경찰월보』에는 37종의 단행본 소설이 출판 금지되었음이 확인되었고, 『조선총독부 금지단행본목록』에는 25종의 단행본 소설이 출판 금지되었음이 확인되었다. 이들 소설은 주로 `치안 방해`와 `풍속 괴란`이라는 자의적인 이유로 출판이 금지되었다. 또한 전체 60여 편에 달하는 이 금지 단행본 소설 가운데에는 현재까지 그 출판이 확인되지 않는 작품들이 존재한다. 사회주의 계열의 작품과 반일, 반제국적 성향을 지닌 작품들이 압수와 출판 금지를 통해서 전해지지 않는 것이다. 본고는 이 작품들이 일제강점기의 소설작품이 가지고 있는 일정한 한계를 극복하는 데에 도움이 될 수 있을 것이라 생각하였고, 그 추적 작업을 진행하였다.

Chosun Gyoengchal Wolbo was Government-General`s censorship record about Chosun publications which was published from September 1928 to November 1938, Government-General banned books list was censorship record of books which confiscated and publishing prohibited from October 1928 to January 1941. This paper is to investigate the censorship of books novels and literature historical significance among the Japanese occupation publications focus on these two materials. As a result, it has been identified that the publication was banned 37 kinds of books novels on Chosun Gyoengchal Wolbo and 25 kinds of books novels on Government-General banned books list. These novels were prohibited arbitrarily because of `policing violations` and `obscenity violations`. And there are works can not be verified those published so far in the middle of the nearly 60 prohibited books novels. Socialism works and works with the anti-Japanese, anti-imperialist tendencies are not remained through the publication ban and seized. I thought that these works were to help to overcome the limitations of Japanese colonial period`s novels, so progressed the tracking work.
