이 글은 연암의 산문에 나타난 용사와 패러디의 문제를 살펴본 것이다. 먼저는 용사와 패러디의 상관관계를 검토하였다. 양자는 동기와 미감, 지향점에서 적지 않은 차이를 갖고 있었다. 특히 용사는 원전의 권위를 붙좇으려 하나패러디는 원전(原典)의 권위를 비틀거나 비평적 거리를 갖는다. 따라서 원전의 권위를 좇는 정신은 `용사(用事) 시학(詩學)`으로, 원전의 권위를 비트는 정신은 `패러디 시학`으로 구별하는 것이 좋다. 이를 바탕으로 풍자 전략을 잘 구사한 연암은 원전을 어떻게 활용하고 있는가를 살펴보았다. 연암은 문학은 지금 현재를 표현해야 하며, 과거의 전범(典範)에 얽매여서는 안 된다고 생각했다. 이러한 점에서 연암의 문학은 과거의 전범을 따라야 한다고 말한 용사전통과 거리가 있다. 연암이 원전을 활용하는 상황을 `짜깁기로 변용하기`, `장황하게 늘이기`, `문맥 속에서 전도(顚倒)시키기` 측면에서 살펴보았다. 연암은 원전을 그대로 끌어들이는 것이 아니라 변용(變容)하되 원전을 재해석하였으며, 나아가 원전의 권위를 조롱하거나 비판하기도 하였다. 곧 연암의 글에는 패러디 요소가 분명히 나타나고 있었으며 이는 그의 세계관이 중세를 일탈하고 있음을 보여주는 하나의 증거가 된다.

This study is to find out the relationship between a proper noun and parady in Yeon-Am`s prose. Firstly, the mutual connection in a proper noun and parady is to be analyzed. There are few differences in motivation, esthetic sense and direction. In particular, a proper noun aims to cling to the authority of the original text, but a parady keeps twisting it and the critical distance from it. So we can divide the soul to stick to the original text as a `a poetics of proper noun, the soul to twist the original text as `a poetics of parady. On the basis of this concept, it is to be found how Yeon-Am, who is excellent in the politics of a satire, approached the original text. He thought that literature should present `now` and `current`, not being bound with the pattern of past. In this point, Yeon-Am`s literature is far from the tradition of a proper noun which urges the imitation of the past scriptures. He considered the status of using the original text as `a change into edited pieces`, `a meaningless prolongation`, `a simple inversion of the contents`. He did not catch the original text simply as it was, but changed and re-interpreted it, and more even made fun of it and criticized it. That is, in his writings we can find clearly the elements of parady, it is one of good proofs that his view of the world was being departed from the medieval times.
