본고는 오영수 소설에 나타난 서정성을 서정적 리얼리즘으로 명명하여 그 문학적 특질을 규명하는 데에 목적을 둔다. `서정적 리얼리즘`이란 오영수 소설에 대한 비판으로서의 `반리얼리즘`, `몰역사성` 등의 문제제기가 일면적인 평가임을 비판하면서 이미 다양한 단편소설을 통해 그런 비판을 텍스트 내적 리얼리티로 극복하고 있다는 전제 하에 작가의 작품 세계 전반을 규정하는 명명이다. 즉 기존에 오영수 소설의 대표적인 특정으로 많이 논구되어 온 서정성을 기반으로 리얼리즘적 세계 인식 속에 내적 리얼리티를 확보한 오영수의 소설을 해명하기 위한 방법적 개념이다. 그리하여 `자연친화적 서정성, 이성애적 욕망의 탐색, 근대문명 비판, 휴머니즘의 옹호` 등으로 그 특징을 나누어 오영수 소설이 지닌 서정적 리얼리즘의 의미를 해명하였다. 오영수의 소설은 토착적인 한국인의 정서와 서정적 배경이 어우러져 서정적 리얼리즘의 형상을 빚어낸다. 그리하여 그는 향토적 천연성과 인본주의를 배면에 깔면서 한국 단편소설의 수준을 개척해온 것이다. 그의 서정적 리얼리즘은 전원 공간을 배경으로 채택할 뿐만 아니라 도시 생활의 비루하고 삭막한 현실 속에서도 휴머니즘적 정서를 놓치지 않는다. 그리하여 그의 소설을 관통하는 서정적 리얼리즘은 인간에 대한 끊임없는 신뢰와 애정을 보내고 있는 작품의 특색이 된다.

This study managed to examine lyricism called lyrical realism in novels of Oh Young-su. `Lyrical realism` means that his novels overcome by inner reality. Because his novels have been criticized for anti-realism and non-historicity. Therefore this study classify into pro-environment lyricism, heterosexual desire, criticism on modern civilization and defend humanism. Oh Young-su`s novels have lyrical realism combine to korean traditional emotion and lyrical background. For this reason his novels are recognized as pathfinding in korean short stories. And his novels have local color and humanism basically. Therefore his novels are showed lyrical realism in spite of dreary city with rural emotion and humanism. And he has had trust and affection for archetypal human. It is typical feature of Oh Young-Su.
